My Life

Last night, after I had changed into my jamma pants, I remembered I was supposed to pick up one of the Hubs' prescriptions that day and I had totally forgotten about it.  So I had to run to the pharmacy.  It has a drive thru window so I decided it wouldn't be a big deal to wear my jamma pants (as a rule I don't generally wear my pajamas in public.  That's not how I roll).  I still had on the shirt I'd worn all day and the top half was all they'd see right?

When I got to the pharmacy the pharmacy tech told me that they couldn't fill the Hubs' script (why couldn't they call me for that info?).  After a little more communication it turned out that they had mixed up the Hubs with a different patient.  I should have taken this as sign that the visit wouldn't go so well.  However, the mistake was caught pretty quickly and I didn't think much about it, aside from being glad the issue had been straightened out.

I paid and the guy put  all my things into the little basket to return to me.  However, he did not bother to put anything on top of the receipt.  So as soon as the drawer opened toward me the receipt literally flew away.  Now, the Hubs and I have been trying to save all receipts so that we can itemize our taxes at the end of the year.  So of course I was all, "ahhh!  I need that receipt!!!"  I pushed the pharmacy drawer closed and opened my door slightly to see if I could see the receipt.  Of course I couldn't and there was a car in line behind me.  So then I got out of the van and glanced around a little more.  Still couldn't find the ding dang receipt.

I got back in the van and pulled forward so the other car could have their turn.  Then I proceeded to get out of the van and hunt the parking lot.....  The good news is I did find the receipt.  And after my ire about losing my receipt subsided I realized that I had totally forgetten that I had on my hot pink, striped pajama pants and a shirt that didn't even remotely match...  Yep, this is my life.  This event is not even close to being isolated.  This kind of thing happens to me rather frequently.  Most of the time I just let it roll off of my back, because I'm used to it, but this time I thought maybe you'd like a little giggle at my expense ;).

Have a great day =)

Motorcycles

I've been seeing those signs and window decals that say, "Motorcycles: Look twice and save a life" all over the place lately.  I agree with the sentiment that we should all be careful drivers.  It is important to be vigilant while driving, "a deadly weapon" as my parents told me when I was old enough to get my permit.

This said, I'm frustrated with motorcycle drivers.  Not all of them, because just like every thing else there are those that do not fit this mold.  However, the majority of motorcycle drivers drive STUPIDLY.  They weave in and out of traffic cutting people off and pulling into places that they can barely fit, they drive way too fast (I'm talking 60-70 mph in a 45 or 50) and I've seen them drive in the hazard lane.    These are just a few things I've seen on the road.  I know people can be this stupid in cars too.  This fact does not escape me as I see their stupidity every time I get behind the wheel of a vehicle.

The point of my tyrade?  My point is that we ALL need to be careful drivers.  INCLUDING those that are on motorcycles.  They should not get a "free pass" and every one assume they are the victim just because they are on a smaller vehicle.

The End

Have a nice day!

Singing

Yesterday Sweet pea was having a melt down.  She had been cranky all morning and she had gone into the play room with Firecracker and all the sudden broke down into tears.

Firecracker was so sweet!  He came over and said, "Sissy, you want me to sing you a song?"  Then he began singing "Jesus Loves Me".  He apparently only knows the first verse, but he kept singing it over and over.  Guess what?  Sweet pea calmed down and started playing with him again.

Seeing Firecracker be so sweet just melts my Mama heart!  Firecracker is growing into a sweet, caring, tender hearted little boy and it makes me so happy!  My heart is so full of love for my kiddos I don't think there is any more room in it =).

Have a great day!

Sleep Overs

Last week we were taking care of my nephew, Tank.  My older brother, Mr. Pickles, and his wife were packing up their house in order to move closer to us!!! YIPPEE!!  So my parents went up to their house and picked up my niece, Princess, and my nephew, Tank, and brought them here so that Mr. and Mrs. Pickles could pack in peace.

Firecracker LOVED having Tank around so much.  They played soooooo well together.  It was a great time.  The only time I really had to get onto them was when they were supposed to be sleeping.  They would be loud and occasionally I would hear wacky noises coming from Firecracker's bedroom.  I would go in and get stern with them and they would calm down and eventually go to sleep.

During one of the evenings I was thinking about why they were so wild when it came to bed time.  Then it dawned on me: Sleep overs!  What kid doesn't love a sleep over?!  When I was a kid my friends and I would stay up late giggling and doing silly things during sleep overs.  And that is basically what was happening with Firecracker and Tank.  This was really the first experience for either of the boys to have a "friend" sleep over in the same room!  No wonder the little guys were so excited.  And then to have the "friend" sleep over for 4 nights.  WOW!  Talk about a sleep over! =)

Have a great day!

5 Question Friday!

I'm so happy it's Friday!!!  The Hubs has been working some crazy hours this week and I'm hoping to get a little family time in this weekend.

On with the crazy, 5 question fun =)

1.  What is a hobby you would love to learn and why?
I've always been fascinated with making pottery.  I'd really love to learn.  I even talked about learning when I was in high school.  It was just one of those things I "never got around to".  Maybe someday I'll learn...

2 What do you wish you could have delivered to your house but does not deliver?
Family members.  I miss my family that do not live close by, but finances prevent any of us from being able to visit whenever we want.  So I'd have to say I want to be able to pick up the phone and order a brother, a sister in law with a couple of nephews on the side =).  Or any other combination of family.

3.  What's your favorite snow day activity?  Inside and out?
Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!  This is a great joke!  It has only snowed here twice in my lifetime.  And the snow melted when it hit the ground both times.  So I don't really have any favorite "snow day" activities.  However, since the heat here can get ridiculous.  We do have days we don't go outside because of "heat advisory warnings".  On those days, (if I am alone and have nothing better to do) I love to watch movies.  I'm a movie buff.  I always have been, but lately... oh I'd say the last 3 or 4 years... I've not had the time to sit around and watch very many new ones or even rewatch my old favorites.  So movie watching is a must on a "heat advisory" day.
If I'm in real life and I have the kids with me on heat days we play games inside.  We will do obstacle courses and jumping games and races and just about anything else I can think of (or find on pinterest!) that will work some of their never ending energy out of those little bodies.

4.  Would you meet a stranger from an internet dating site?
There was a time in my life that I would have said no to this.  However, I have several people that I know that have successfully found mates through the internet, so I think I would.  However, because I know that this world is full of crazy people and shows like "Law and Order" and "Criminal Minds" really ARE based on true stories 90% of the time (they change just enough to be able to say "no real people or crimes were recreated. and any likeness is coincidence" or however they word it) I would have to pack some heat.  I would also have to call everyone I've ever met in my whole life and tell them where I was going, who I was going to meet and how long I plan on staying.  And to assume something is terribly wrong if they haven't heard from me by that time.  The only snag in this plan?  I will tell you.  It is my memory.  You see it could be that the person I would meet would be nice and not serial killer like at all and we would get all caught up in conversation and then the time that I told people I would call them by would have come and gone and then all the people I've ever met in my whole life would call the police because they hadn't heard from me.  And then the police would bum rush the restaurant/ wherever we were, and take him down and arrest him, because at this point I've left to go home, Obviously they wouldn't arrest him if I were standing right there.  And then I would have to come and bail him out of jail.  And then he would never want to see or talk to me again. This would so happen in my life.  I'm just saying.  Thankfully I don't have to worry about it, because I have the Hubs.

5. If you had to spend 35 hours in a car with 4 other people who would you choose?
OH MYLANTA!  Where in the world are we going that we are driving for 35 hours?!And why in the world are there 5 of us and not 4 or 6?  It's one thing to have kids with you, but no sane person wants to take a kid on a 35 hour road trip, so we're going to assume adults.  And if we're going with adults then why would 1 single person choose to go on vacation with 2 couples?  That's sadistic.   Ok, so I'm going to have 3 people in the car with me.  I'm a rebel what can I say?  Well, I'm gonna say the Hubs  and gosh I'm having a hard time choosing.  I'm gonna say either my bestie, Ms. L and her Hubby or my older bro, Mr. Pickles, and his wife. Oh or my younger bro, Ham, and his wife, or my parents, or the Hub's brother, Big guy, and his wife, or my older sister and her hubs.... Gosh we have a bunch of people we love and wouldn't mind being trapped in a car with for hours. We would have a splendid time together!  We are all crazy people that love to laugh and we are all super sarcastic and most of us choose to make jokes when it is totally inappropriate...  which just makes it even better!!!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Gas Prices and Sleep

I know after reading the title of this post I piqued your interest.  Come on you know I'm right!  I'm sure you're wondering where this crazy lady is going with this post.  Okay okay, I'm getting to the point and thereby end your suspense. =)

Lately, I have noticed that every time I go to sleep gas prices have a tendency to rise between .05 and .10 a gallon.  This is very disconcerting to me.  That is a huge jump in price for one little sleep.  So I have decided to never sleep again in hopes that gas prices will not go any higher.

This will be a huge sacrifice, but I will make it.  And by the way Your welcome!!!

Hope you all have a great day!

Jealous

I'm about to get all serious on you.  So if you're looking for a laugh you'll probably wanna skip this post and come back tomorrow.  I'm sure I'll be back to my crazy antics by then ;).

I have a friend that I've been jealous of for quite some time.  I'm not going to tell you who they are or what they have (or don't have) that I'm jealous about, because making you jealous too isn't the point of this post.  I love them, but I couldn't get past my jealousy.

Lately, the Lord has really been pressing on me my need for contentment.  Talk about contentment is everywhere!  From Church to shows I watch on netflix.  I've finally started listening and asking Him to help me to be content.  You know what?  I'm happier.  Do I still desire what my friend has?  Sure.  However, I'm not so jealous anymore.  I can appreciate their stuff and still be happy with what God has blessed me with.

Another added bonus of attempting contentment is that my relationship with that friend has started to flourish.  I didn't realize that my attitude was hindering our friendship.  Talk about a double blessing! =)

P.s. I'm not saying I'm anywhere close to being completely content, but God is helping me a little at a time. =)

Have a great day!

Socks

I get so frustrated with missing socks.  One day I have a brand new 6 pack of socks and a week later 1/2 of them are missing.  Where do 6 out of 12 of them go?!  UGH!  To make it worse the kids have several pairs of socks that have characters or patterns on them.  And therefore cannot be combined with other socks that look similar, because there are no other socks that are similar!

All of this leads me to this: If you see me or one of my family walking down the street with one striped sock and one Santa sock, just smile, nod and know that this Mama is too stressed out to continue hunting for those ridiculous missing socks!

Have a great day!

Egg-cubes

Have you ever done something you felt super stupid for?  Well, I did something like that the other day.  Are you ready to hear about my supreme stupidity? Ok, here it goes.

I boiled some eggs the other day.  Typically after I boil eggs I put them in the freezer for about 10 minutes or so.  This helps them peel super easily.  However, I've learned the hard way that I have to set the timer.  Otherwise I forget about them and leave them for like an hour.  Yes, that's ridiculous, but they are still salvageable that way.

Back to the story at hand.  Anyway, so I boiled the eggs and put them in the freezer.  Firecracker was in the tub and started hollering for me.  I forgot about setting the timer...... You wanna know how long I forgot them this time?  I got up in the morning and opened the freezer to get out the frozen pancakes for the kids... Yep.  OVERNIGHT!  They were egg cubes.  And guess what.  Egg cubes cannot be salvaged.  Egg cubes must go directly into the garbage can.  Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars.

Hope you have a great day!

Wrinkles

The other day the kids and I were outside. The kids were playing around. Firecracker didn't have any shoes on.  He sat down and was looking at his feet.  All the sudden he said, "Oh no, Momma!  My feet are cracked!"  I looked down and realized he was looking at the wrinkles on the bottoms of his feet.

My sweet innocent little man!  I love the way his little mind works =).

Have a great day!

Gracious

Have I told you all that my bestie, Ms. L, and I co-coach a basket ball team for a small Christian school in our area?  Well, if not I'm telling you now.

Last night was the last game of our season.  Most of my girls had never played basketball before.  They knew very little about the game at the beginning of the season.  Now, they aren't perfect at it yet, but they have made some huge strides since their first game.  (we played a total of 6 games this season).

Sadly, our team lost every game this year.  Some by under 10 and others we lost by over 50.  However, not one time did my girls complain to me.  They just love to play.  These girls aren't perfect, but how many people do you know that could lose a game by 57 points and then look at you and say, "Oh, I don't want the season to be over.  Can't we play some more games?!"

I'm so proud of my girls.  Yes, they learned some about basketball, but they also have learned that in life you don't always get to win.  And they've learned how to be gracious even when we don't win.  I'm so proud of them!

May we all learn to be gracious even when life doesn't go our way.

Have a great day!

Snot

Snot is a part of our lives right now.  It's allergy season big time here.  When we go outside our vehicles are covered in pollen.  After it rains our puddles have yellow pollen rings around them.  Sweet pea especially has been having snotty issues.

As a result of the allergies Sweet pea is getting pretty good at blowing her nose.  She will actually blow when you tell her to (a mile stone all Mamas are glad to see).  Well, this mile stone also comes at a price.

Sweet pea has begun to blow her own nose.... into her shirt!  GROSS!!  When I caught her doing it I told her, "no, Sweet pea!  That's yucky!!"  And I cleaned her shirt off with a wet wipe (we were not at home at the time otherwise I would have changed her shirt).  She laughed, repeated, "uck, uck" and then promptly blew her nose into her shirt again.  Then she took the wipe from my hand and cleaned her own shirt off..... It's disgusting and humorous all in one.

Have a great day!

Gluten

A few days ago I got 4 loaves of gluten free bread for free.  So I decided, "hey it's better for us and it's free.  What could be better?"

I learned something new about myself.  Apparently I like gluten.  A Lot!  Not saying the gluten free bread was gross or disgusting or anything.  We've eaten it, but it's way different than what I'm used to.  I mean I've gone for 30 years with gluten being an essential part of my diet (because after looking at lables it's in freaking EVERYTHING).  And I despise change.  Therefore, I predict this Mama will not be switching to gluten free.  Sorry to all those gluten haters out there.  But on the upside you'll have one less person to contend with buying out your bread =).

Have a great, gluten filled day!

Accessories

Ladies, we all know that the success of every outfit depends heavily on the accessories.  Right?  Well, Sweet Pea has learned this at an early age.  Check her out:

Stock Pile

As I have shared with you many times, I am a couponer.  Couponing requires you to stock up on items that are on sale to get you through til the next sale comes around.  (Once you're used to it, it just becomes a way of life.  You also get a pretty good idea of when the sales tend to run and how long you'll have to go before another one comes around).

The other day the Hubs was changing Sweet Pea's diaper and he went to the closet to refill our diaper basket we keep on the changing table.  When he was done changing the diaper he came out in the living room and said to me, "we're getting kind of low on diapers.  Is that because you planning on potty training her or are you just going to buy more?"

I knew that I needed to be watching the sales for diapers, but when he said something I thought maybe I had miscalculated how many we still had.  So I went and looked at the diaper stash.  We still had 1 and a half boxes of diapers!  Hahaha!  And he was worried we were "running out".  Hahaha!  Only the spouse of a couponer would think that one and a half boxes of diapers was "running out". =)  Gotta love the Hubs.

Have a great day!

Affirmation

There's nothing like parental affirmation.  Ohh trust me, I'm sure Firecracker and Sweet Pea will have plenty of fodder for their future Psychologists to blame the Hubs and I for.  However, the other day I was reading an article on line about how to know if you're raising spoiled children.

There were 10 "symptoms" of a spoiled child.  And my children occasionally do 2 of them.  Now, I am not saying that we are perfect parents.  Far from it, but it's nice to get a little pat on the back every now and then, ya know? Especially since the ones writing the article have bad mouthed your disciplining techniques time and time again.  It makes me chuckle just a little..... ok a lot =).

Have a great day!

Cold Feet

Ok, not "cold feet" as in not sure about getting married, because that ship has sailed.  My feet in that respect have been toasty warm for 5 1/2 years.

I despise my feet being cold.  I can be lying in bed and all of me is toasty warm under the covers, except my feet.  UGH!  I cannot go to sleep until my feet are warm too.  I'm a weirdo, I'm fully aware of this fact.

So what are your eccentricities?  Do you have to have all the light switches up/ down to match when you leave a room? (That's one of the Hub's things)  Or do you have to have all your shoes lined up by color?  Come on join me in the weirdo boat =)

Have a great day!

5 Question Friday

Good Morning, Friends!  It's Friday again!  Is it just me or has this week dragged on for what feels like forever?  Usually, it doesn't do that unless I'm looking forward to something.  There isn't anything big happening this weekend for me to get excited about.  (I'm not really into football.  I still am not sure who is playing in the Super bowl.)

Alright, Enough complaining from me, because Friday is here!!  Yippee!  Ok, on with the 5 question fun!

1. What is your favorite book to read with your kids?
A friend recently gave us a Veggie Tales devotional book for kids.  We have started reading it every night before bed.  It's awesome, because Firecracker loves the pictures of the characters on the pages and it's teaching them about Jesus.  What could be better?! =)

2. After having kids, what body part has changed the most?
Can I have multiple answers to this question?  Because so much has changed it's ridiculous.  I'm so out of shape it's silly.  And I know that the kids are directly responsible, but for real I have very little time to exercise.  And I know that other people that have kids get up at like 5 am and work out.  Sorry, I'm not committed enough for that.  I'm in love with my sleep.  And so are my kids, because when Mama doesn't get enough sleep I'm not always a happy camper.

Ok, so that's not really a body part, so uhhh, lets see. I'm going to go with my tummy.  After I gave birth to Firecracker I realized my tummy resembled a waterbed.  It got better and then I had Sweet pea.  Guess what happened again?  Yep.  I am working on it.... kinda (read above paragraph) so it is getting marginally better, but I make no promises.

3. Would you ever go back to college? What would you study?
I have thought about going back to college and taking a course in medical coding or something along those lines.

4. How do you close a phone call? Bye, bye bye or other?
It really depends on who I am talking to.  If I'm talking to an acquaintance, or friend I usually say either bye, or talk to you later.  If it is a family member or a super close friend I usually say something like, love you and I'll talk to you later.

5. What is the one food that will always be your "cheat food" on a diet?

Hmm, Can this question also have multiple answers?  Because I have a big time sweet tooth!  And of course while on a diet all those foods are strictly forbidden.  And therefore all of these types of foods suddenly are my favorites!!  And I can't stop thinking about them, and they start calling my name.

If I had to pick only one, I'd have to go with chocolate.  Chocolate and I have a love affair going on.  Shhhh!  Don't tell the Hubs!

Alrighty!  Hope you all have a great weekend!
Ms. T
