5 Question Friday

Good Morning, Friends!
Once again we’ve reached FRIDAY!!  I have no idea what we are going to do this weekend, and that is kinda a nice feeling.  Alrighty on with the 5 question fun!  Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting us link up.

1. What do you enjoy doing the most with your spouse?
Honestly, I enjoy being with the Hubs.  We can do just about anything and have fun.  A couple of weeks ago we went to dinner and then to a kiddie arcade.  We had a great time!  In short being with the Hubs is my favorite thing.

2. How do you eat your taco? From the top or from the side?
What kind of question is this really?  I mean I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anyone eat a taco from the top.  Maybe I’m just sheltered.  So my answer to this question is from the side.  The end.

3. Have you ever shut off the basement light and ran like a fool because you knew someone was down there and would get you?
We moved out of the last house that we lived in that had a basement when I was 6.  I don’t really remember if I ever did this…. And since we haven’t had a basement after that it makes it really hard to have done this.  I guess my answer to this question is I don’t remember doing it.  However, I will admit that as a teenager whenever I would come home by myself and the door was unlocked (which was often, my family was extremely trusting.  And nothing bad ever happened because the back door was unlocked.) I would go through the whole house with a knife in my hand checking every corner and behind every shower curtain.  Because I didn't want to be caught by a serial killer.  And see how well it worked?! =)

4. If you could change one thing about you what would it be and why?
Ahhh this one is super easy.  I would no longer suffer with depression.  I would not have to take medication to live a semi normal life.  However, I must say I’m so thankful that we live in a day in age where there are medications to help me. Praise God.

5. What age do you think is appropriate to have the "bird and the bees" talk with your children?
I haven’t really figured this out yet since my kids are 3 and 1 and definitely NOT the age yet.  I will figure it out.  I’d so much rather them hear it from me or the Hubs than some uninformed kid that is going to make assumptions.  Or worse an informed kid…. Oh goodness could we stop talking about this now please?!  I’m starting to get anxiety about this and I have awhile before I should have to face this!!

I hope you all have a great weekend!
Ms. T

On Purpose

Recently every time Firecracker gets in trouble and I ask him, "Firecracker, why are you in trouble?"  He answers, "an accident".  As in: "it was an accident, Mom."  We've spent a lot of time covering what an accident is, and when we do things on purpose.

Well, last night Firecracker was in trouble and I said, "Firecracker, do you know why you're in trouble?" and his answer:  "on purpose".

I really am not sure what to do from this point!  Hahaha!  Ok, yes, technically he got it right.  He did act "on purpose", but can he pinpoint the exact action that got him in trouble?!  Good grief!  I'm going to have to start being excessively specific with him.  Maybe I've got a future lawyer on my hands!  Hahahaha!  Gotta love the crazy things these kiddos come up with!

Hope you all have a great day!

Backfire

When I was a teenager a kids movie came out called 3-2-1 Penguins.  I watched it *cough* with kids I babysat *cough*.  Anyway, it was really cute, it had biblical morals and the underlying message of the movie was to teach the kids that they need to be considerate of others and share.  At the beginning of the movie the kids do nothing but argue and say, "I go first", "no, I go first!" etc.

I hunted this movie down on Amazon and found it!  Yippee!!  It got here yesterday and so this morning.  I told Firecracker that I had a special new movie for him.  He was excited!  I cracked that sucker open and let him watch it.

He LOVED it and the movie was just as cute as I remembered it to be.  So what was the backfire you ask?   Well, after the movie was over Firecracker was running around saying, "no, I go first!"  UGH!!  Wrong message to pick up, Firecracker!!!  We've talked about it, and how the kids learned it is best to let others go first etc.  We'll see how this goes.  If he keeps it up, this movie might have to be put away and taken back out in a year or so.

Oh well, I tried!!

Hope you all have a great day!

Happy Birthday... In August?

Yesterday my Mama called me and said, "Ms. T, Daddy said you and I should go for manicures and pedicures today, my treat."  And I said, "No, Mother, I couldn't possibly allow you to whisk me away from my family for an hour of FREE pampering."  Ummm NO!   I totally said, "Heck yes, Mama!  When and where?!"

So around 5:30 I left the Hubs with the kids and Mama and I went to get pampered.  It was so lovely!  While we were sitting under the nail dryers we had this conversation,

Mama: "Oooh this is your birthday present!"  (P.S. my birthday is the day after Christmas).
Me: "Yeah!  Awesome!  Happy Birthday to me! Talk about early =)"
Mama: "No, remember I never got you a birthday present last year?"
Me: "Oh yeah, I forgot!" (P.S. To Mama's credit she tried to get me something last year, but it fell through)
Mama: "So really it's just really late.  I wanted to surprise you!"

By this time we were both laughing.  And then Mama broke into "Happy Birthday to You" and I did my Birthday dance.  I'm pretty sure the people in the shop thought we were nuts, but we had a great time.  I love my Mama and Daddy.  I'm so glad my parents have moved closer so I get to see them more often.

That's the story of my birthday party in August.

Hope you have a great day!

Firsts

This weekend Sweet Pea had 3 new firsts.

1.  I asked her to go find her cup.  She toddled away and actually came back with it!!!  I was so proud of her!  Such a smart girl! =)

2.  My little climber.  I tell you Firecracker may be a handful, but he's never really been a climber.  Well, I tell you Sweet Pea is every bit the climber Firecracker never was.  That being said I bring you to the second first of the weekend.  Firecracker and Sweet Pea were in the dining room.  I went into the living room for a minute and all the sudden I hear, "MOM!!"  I came running back in to find Sweet Pea sitting in the middle of the dining room table.  Yeah, not such a great first.  Scare me to death!!

3.  The 3rd and final first was done on Saturday night/ Sunday morning.  While she was in her bed, she learned how to take her diaper off!  You can guess what we found in her bed in the morning... (no poop, THANK GOD!).  Firecracker's first time ever taking his diaper off was also a Saturday night/ Sunday morning.  I tell you the Devil likes to try and throw obstacles in our way of getting to church!  P.S. we made it in time anyway ;)

So that was our eventful weekend!  Hope you all have a great day!

5 Question Friday!!

Hey, Friends!  Happy Friday!  This weekend is jam packed for us.  It will be fun, but we’re gonna buckle up and get ready.  Alrighty, on with the 5 question fun!  Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting us link up!

1.  If you could have been (could be) any profession you wanted (brains and $$$ no problem) what would it be?
I am actually living my dream “profession”.  I’m a stay at home Mama.  What could get better?  For real, when I was little I always wanted babies, and I wanted to be the one to raise those babies.  I didn’t wanna drop them off at daycare.  I know lots of people do that and kudos to them.  I just can’t.  The idea that Firecracker is going to school NEXT year is already freaking me out.
Once my babies grow up…. I have no idea what I wanna be when I grow up.  I’ll let you know when the time comes ;).

2. How often do you clean out your car?

Oh goodness.  The sad thing is that I can clean out my car one day and the next day (literally) it’s got so much stuff in it it’s ridiculous!!  UGH, it is obnoxious.  Before I had babies my car was always clean.  Now, not so much.  Oh well, it’s a good trade off ;).

3. Do you wish there was such a thing as fashion police or are you deeply relieved?

Ummm yes and no.  Yes, I do wish that there were fashion police when I see women standing in front of me wearing leggings as pants.  Seriously, people NO!!
But a big fat no for the rest of the time.  I go out with my hair a mess or in sloppy t shirts way too often for that mess.  I’d be posting bail at least 1 time a week.  Ha!

4. What's your go to food/drink/activity when stressed?

My go to food would be chocolate.  Drink would be sweet tea or soda.  Activity would be reading or watching t.v., but mostly reading.  Stress when you already border on depression can literally push you over the edge.  My therapist recommended that I read to help me.  It helps take my mind off of my worries and puts me in a whole other world where stress is nonexistent.

5. If you had twins, what would you name them?
The first one would be Good Lord and the second would be Please No!  So when you read their names together you would see my sentiments Good Lord Please No!!!  Ok, in reality I’d name them Grayson and Charlotte.  Because they are some of my favorite unused (by us) baby names.  And just so we all are clear on this my oven is done baking if you catch my drift ;).

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Hubs Goes Shopping

The other day I was sick.  I asked the Hubs to go to the store and get me some chicken noodle soup.  Of course he's such a good hubby he didn't utter one complaint and went.

When he came home he had 10 cans of chicken noodle soup in tow.  I'm fairly sure he bought every different kind of chicken soup the store had to offer:  Chicken and stars, Chicken noodle, Chicken Mega Noodle etc. etc. and so forth.

I went into the kitchen and smiled at the amazing amount of soup sitting on my counter.  My Hubs is so sweet.  I think I'll keep him for another 95 years or so ;).

Hope you all have a great day!

More Random

Here are some more random thoughts that are running around inside my head, and now they're here for your reading pleasure!

- Leaving household chores alone because they seem overwhelming does not help them get done any faster.

- What is the deal with guys loving movies that are ridiculously awful?  You know the ones where the Asian kung fu fighter guy says something like, "you will be sorry" and his mouth still goes on for a good 5 seconds after the phrase comes out.... I'm just sayin' that kinda movie does not float my boat.

- Little boys can make guns out of anything.  The other day Firecracker made a gun out a graham cracker cookie by eating away part of it very carefully and specifically.  It made me laugh.  It just shows that even if you don't let a little boy play with fake guns they're going to find a way to play guns.....

- It occurs to me that I only have one year left before I will be one of the Moms out there buying school supplies and clothes.  And honestly, the idea makes me so sad!  Can't I bottle up my babies and keep them with me forever?  Somebody say I can!

Hope you all have a great day!

5 Question Friday!!

Good morning, friends!  Once again it’s FRIDAY!!  We don’t have a big weekend planned, but that’s fine by me.  A relaxing weekend will be perfect =).  Alrighty on with the 5 question Friday fun!  Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting us link up!

1. What's the one thing you buy every time you walk into the store?

Milk.  We go through so much milk its nutty.

2. If you had a day all to yourself how would you spend it?

I’d sleep in as long as I wanted.  Then when I did get up I would go thrift store shopping (I love a good bargain, and taking the kids to this is hard.  They want to touch everything and you have to devote a lot of time to this kind of shopping which the munchkins don’t like.).  After I was done shopping I’d come home and read.  Ahhhh what a fabulous day it would be!

3. Are you a speed limit driver? If not, over or under?

Generally I drive roughly about 5 miles over.  However, recently a speed trap has been set up on the main road near my house.  So I try to be uber careful there.

4. What's your favorite dessert to make, homemade or from a mix??

My great grandmother’s sugar cookie recipe.  Oh so delicious!!!!  The only thing is that this recipe takes a long time and the dough is really sticky and hard to work with.  It really makes a huge mess.  Therefore I only make it once a year at Christmas.

5. Would you rather have a spider or a mouse scurry across your face (no copping out and saying "neither!!")?

Umm  I’m TERRIFIED of spiders.  Seriously.  Ask the Hubs how many times I’ve given him a heart attack screaming, because there was a (according to him) “small” spider near me or my babies.   (Trust me, they all seemed like Godzilla spiders to me!)  However, mice gross me out big time….  Do you realize how many diseases they carry?!   So I guess maybe one of those cleaner mice from a pet store could have a small scurry and then never come near me again……

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Just Horsin' Around

I recently mentioned that the Little Miss was in her first competitive horse show.  Well let me tell you, I was one nervous mama!  Some friends of our Babbi's had asked us if the Little Miss could ride one of their horses in the competition so their horse could be listed as lead-line certified.  For those of you who don't know what this means, I will explain it to you (because I had to have it explained to me).

When a child shows at a very young age, they are usually on a leadline, which means a trainer will actually lead the horse around the arena while the child rides. The child is judged on posture, how comfortable they are with their animal, and general knowledge of riding.

The reason that we were asked to ride this horse, Vashti, is because she had never had a rider so small as to be in a lead line competition.  Thus my nervousness.  Well, that and the owners were out of town, so we didn't even get a single practice in until warm ups.  All went well though, and here are a few highlights of our day.

Showing off our number! Go #321!

Oh, my, she is growing up so fast!

Does this ribbon make my butt look big?

She had to thoroughly inspect her ribbon

Showing off our ribbon to Dad
I bet you feel like you were there, huh?

Have a great day!

Kisses

Sweet Pea has recently started giving kisses.  She forms her little lips into a straight line and starts making kissing noises, then she leans over and plants one on her intended recipient.  It's incredibly cute and sweet.

Sweet Pea and Firecracker pinned me down the other night and were peppering me with kisses.  Most of them were wet and sloppy, but I loved every single one.  These are the moments that I will cherish for the rest of my life. =)

I hope you all have a great day!

Dirty Toes

When I was growing up, I always dreamed of having a little girl.  Well, four years ago that dream came true. The Little Miss has been such a blessing to our family.  She is a princess.  She thinks she is the boss.  She is prissy but definitely not afraid to get dirty.  Back a couple of months ago, we were preparing for our first horse show (more on that later), and she had been outside almost all day.  At some point, she had lost her shoes.  This picture sums up the Little Miss so well.

This is actually one of my favorite images to look at right now.  It reminds me of the mom that I want to be.  It is not normal for me to see past the fact that she was sweaty, absolutely filthy, and was rolling all over my clean now-needing-to-be-washed bed.  But on this day, all I saw were baby toes, with chipped pink polish, caked in dirt and the huge smile that was on her face.

Whoever knew that dirty toes could stop a mama in her tracks?

Have a great day!

Little Kid Dictionary

Am't = Am Not, Usage- "No, Mama, I am't being bad". - Firecracker

Soet (pronounced like poet only with a s instead of a p)= Soda, Usage- "Mama, can I have a drink of your soet?"- Firecracker

Gurdy= any dog.  Our neighbors have a dog named Gurdy and it's the only dog Firecracker has constant contact with.  Therefore, every dog is a "Gurdy". Usage- "I like that Gurdy." - Firecracker

Gogot= Forgot Usage- "Oh, I almost gogot."- Firecracker

These little things are so cute, and I know Firecracker won't always speak in little kid language so I'm soaking it in =).

Hope you all have a great day!

5 Question Friday

Good morning, friends!  It’s Friday again!!  Yippee!!  I have lots to do today so let’s get this party started!  Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting us link up.

1. Thunder storms- love them or hate them?

Hmmm well, it depends.  Where am I when the thunderstorm is taking place?  If I’m a home? I love thunderstorms!  They are calming to listen to.  The steady pitter pat of the rain on the roof… ahhh!  The only thing that could make it better would be if I get to take a nap all snuggled up with the Hubs while the rain is coming down.
On the other hand, if I’m out and about especially with the kids in tow?  I hate thunderstorms!  I get soakin’ wet while trying to strap them into their car seats.  And then for a few days afterwards the van stinks, because the inside of it is still trying to dry out.  Yuck!

2. Do your kids get back to school clothes

Well, see, my kids don’t go to school yet… so that would be a big fat NO they don’t get back to school clothes.  However, whenever they do go to school I will buy them back to school clothes.  Even if all we can afford is one outfit, because the first day of school is a perfect “new outfit” day =).

3. Do you golf? Do you watch it?

No, I don’t golf.  Well, not in the true golfing, caddy, get to ride in a fun cart, kind of way.  I golf where on the 18th hole you get to shoot the ball into a clown’s mouth, kind of way =).  And that is really the only kind of golf I have patience for.  No, I don’t watch it.  I’d rather watch paint dry.

4. Showers or baths?

I’m straight up a showers kind of girl.  When I’m sitting in the tub attempting to “relax” all I can do is think about the 23,435,366 I should be doing.  So for my sanity, showers it is.

5. What's the strangest meal you ever ate?

I’d have to go with gator tail.  And by the way it was awesome!  If you ever have a chance to try it DO!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Comments from the Backseat

The Boy was bustin' out the robot on Easter.

Sometimes my children just make me giggle with the things that I hear drifting from the backseat of the car.  They are pretty funny kids and their comments just remind me of what it was like to be a kid and not have the current stresses that I have.  A few examples of recent conversations are below:

Little Miss: "Now, Bubba, get your Beyblades and bow down to me! I said get                            your Beyblades and bow down to me!!!"

Just the other morning, on our way to summer camp I heard the following:

The Boy:  "Little Miss, would you ever want to go to China?"
Little Miss: "No way!  I don't want to have to eat grasshoppers!"

And this one was on the way home from church on Sunday:

The Boy: "Little Miss, you should eat some cat food.  I bet it's good."
Little Miss: "Bubby, I can't eat cat food. God didn't make me a cat, He made me a people, so I have to eat person-food!"

May I encourage you to turn down the radio, listen to those little voices in the backseat, and find a giggle or two of your own.  Unless you don't have kids, and then those voices are probably in your head and you need professional help.  Have a great day!

Ms. L
