Voice Mail

Ok, so I never check my voice mail.  And by never, I mean maybe, MAYBE once a month.  I just don't care for it.  Usually instead of listening to the voice mail I just call the person back.  I'd rather talk to them than listen to a recording.  Thanks anyway.

Recently, a good friend of mine learned this lesson the hard way.  I had called my friend, M, and left her a voice mail about getting together to hang out (yes, I do leave voice mail, because I know not everyone is odd like me.).  A few weeks went by and I hadn't heard anything from M.  I thought that was strange, because she is usually the type to get back to people quickly.

I finally decided to call her and see what was going on.  During the course of our conversation I found out M had called me and left me a voice mail not long after I had called her.  WHOOPS!  I didn't see her missed call, and didn't check my voice mail, so I had no idea she had called!

Let this be a lesson to all of you, if you try to call me and don't reach me, DON'T leave a voice mail.  Send me a text instead.

Have a great day!
Ms. T

Big Girl

Tuesday the Hubs and I took down Sweet pea's crib and put up her new big girl, toddler bed.  She was sooo excited to have a "big girl" bed!

I love watching my kids hit new mile stones.  It's awesome.  However, it does make me a little nostalgic.  My babies are growing up way too fast.

Have a great day!
Ms. T

P.s. Sweet pea only got out of her bed once. =)

Frozen Tundra or Sauna?

When I was preggers with Sweet pea I was constantly hot.  This was especially true at night.  It got to the point where I'd sleep with the over head fan on and a regular sized, stand fan pointed at me.  It was the only way I could get cool enough to sleep.  I assumed that after I had Sweet pea I would go back to "normal".

It is 2 years later and I still have to have both of my fans on at night.  I guess I'll just always be this way.  Eh, it's no biggie, just crank up the fans.  However, I do feel bad for the Hubs.  Before I got preggers I was always the cold one.  He would sleep comfortably with only the sheet, whereas I would be huddled under the quilt with another blanket thrown on top.  Now, however, the tables have turned.  I need it to be so cool in order to sleep that it actually makes him too cold.

He now sleeps under our quilt and at least 1 other blanket.  Some nights it's 2 blankets.  My poor husband!  The things he puts up with because he loves me!

Have a great day!

Middle of the Night Math

The Hubs and I have a projection clock in our room.  It's great for when you wake up in the middle of the night, and want to know how much longer you have to sleep.  Yeah, it's great, except for when it mysteriously stops telling the time right.  All the sudden you realize that it's 3 hours behind.  And the weird part?  It STAYS 3 hours behind.  It doesn't gain any time or lose any time.  It's just odd.

So in this instance, because "projection clock" doesn't usually end up on the list of items to buy at the store, and as I constantly tell the Hubs, "if it's not on the list it doesn't get purchased!", We've been living with a clock that is 3 hours behind. Therefore, in the middle of the night when I roll over and look at the clock I have to add 3 to get the real time.

While this doesn't sound complicated, to a very drowsy, muddled mind it can be hard.  Note to self, buy a new clock!!!

Have a great day!

Mess-a-phobe

Firecracker is a messaphobe.  He HATES to be messy.  Last night the Hubs was outside mowing the lawn and he got grass all over the patio.  Firecracker was watching from inside and he started yelling, "no, Daddy! You're making a BIG mess!  Daddy! Stop!"  It cracked me up!

After the Hubs was done mowing, and cleaning everything up, we had to call Firecracker back to look at the patio again and see that Daddy cleaned up the "mess" he made.  Hahahaha!  Gotta love that little man.  He sure keeps us on our toes!

Have a great weekend!

Puddles

At what point in our lives do we stop enjoying puddles?  My kids love puddles, especially Sweet pea.  I try to steer her away from them as much as possible, but she is enthralled.

It makes me wonder, when do we become so grown up that we stop enjoying puddles?  My guess is that it is about the same time we start becoming a grown up.  So for now, I'll let my kids enjoy the puddles (unless they're in church clothes), because I want them to stay little forever! =)

Have a great day!

Sunglasses

Firecracker has a hard time getting up in the morning.  When he does get up, he despises the light.  He complains that it's "hot in his eyes".  Our solution?  Sunglasses.  Every morning after he wakes up, and before I turn on the light, he grabs his sunglasses and puts them on.  And then he's completely happy to go about his morning doing all that needs to be done to get to school on time.  I love my quirky little man ;).  I wish all issues in life were fixed as easily!

Have a great day!

Wogging

I know, you're thinking "what in the world is wogging?!"  It's a new breed.  See once upon a time (about 2 weeks ago) there were 4, fabulous, however out of shape women that decided it was high time to do something about their out of shapeness.  They decided to start a running regimen.

While this sounded great at first, the fabulous four quickly realized that if they wanted to make it more than one city block that they would have to build up to running.  Thus, wogging was born.  The fabulous four decided to walk for a set amount of time and intersperse it with running.  It has been working very well, not to mention, the walking parts help the out of shape women time to catch their breath, and complain about how hard it was to run that last bit ;).

P.s. Yes, I am one of the fabulous four ;)

Have a great weekend!

E-O Had A Farm

Sweet pea loves to sing.  She sings all the time.  I love it.  Lately she has been singing her own version of one of two things:  It's either Old McDonald Had a Farm or Happy Birthday.  They are so cute!  I'll share her version of the lyrics with you:

Old McDonald- "E-O had a farm. Duck!", repeat about a thousand times. ;)  Sometimes she'll ad a "moo- moo here, moo- moo there"

and

Happy Birthday- "Happy dirth day (fill in random family member's name here)."  repeat 60 times, each time switching out a different name.

It's really quite cute, although sometimes I'll tell her it's time for Mommy to turn on the radio.  Even when a sweet 2 year old is singing their own version of a song, 45 minutes it gets slightly old.  Sometimes a 15 minute break is all one needs.

Have a great day,
Ms. T

Flashback

Last night I was rummaging around looking for something when I stumbled across a photo album I hadn't looked at in ages.  It was from my high school/ college days.  As I looked through it, I saw wonderful people that have been part of my life.

Those people truly are awesome.  I'm blessed to know so many great souls.  There were crazy pictures in there of Ms. L, some of the other girls from our dorm and I wearing crazy old lady outfits.  There were pictures from my first year as a camp counselor with all my sweet heart little girls.  There were pictures of some of my good friends and I singing karaoke (really, really badly, although you can't tell it from the picture, thank God!).

It was great to take a little peek into my past.  I've led a great life, and it ain't over yet!!  Here's to more crazy adventures!

Have a great day!

Tucking In

Friday nights are a special night in our house.  The Hubs and Firecracker "camp out" in the living room.  They both look forward to this all week long, for very different reasons.  The Hubs, because he knows that these days are limited.  He loves forming such a strong bond with Firecracker.  And Firecracker, because it's so much fun to stay up late with the Hubs.

Last Friday night, I was reading in bed and Firecracker came in to say good night.  He crawled up into my bed, gave me a kiss and then said, "good night, Mommy.  Sleep well, I'll see you in the morning." With that he kissed me once more, climbed out of my bed, turned off my light and shut the door behind him.

It was absolutely adorable!  I have great kids!

Have a great day!

How Do I Explain?

If you've followed my blog for very long at all you most likely know that I suffer from depression.  It is a terrible beast of a disease.  Lately, I've had some very bad days.  Days when I had to ask the Hubs to do it all.  And he does, with gusto!  The Hubs is truly amazing.  He is a great Daddy and Husband.  And when Firecracker asks why Mommy is laying down in the bedroom, the Hubs answers him honestly, explaining that Mommy doesn't feel well.

The last few times that I have emerged from my bed for one reason or another, Firecracker will come and hug me and ask if I am feeling better.  If I have to tell him no, he wants to offer me some of his food or milk, because, "they make your muscles really big and strong, and they will make you feel good."  Tell me that isn't the sweetest thing you've ever heard?  And then to make it better/ worse he'll say something like, "Mommy, I missed you". It makes me well up even thinking about it. He really is an amazing kid.

Obviously, Firecracker is getting to an age where he notices when Mommy, "isn't feeling well" and he wants me to be better.  How do I explain that it isn't something I can fix?  How do I make him understand that I want to be with him, but sometimes it just isn't possible?

I don't want him to grow up and remember all the "holes" in his childhood, when Mommy was too unwell to be around.  I want him to look back and not have any "holes".

How?  How do I explain all this to a 4 year old?  And maybe a better question would be How do I fix it?!  The medication helps, but it's not an end all be all.  It only helps make the episodes shorter, and less intense (thank God!).  It doesn't make them go away.  Soooooo frustrating!

I'm sorry to drop all this on you.  I've been in a funk the last few days.  I think I'm starting to crawl out of my deep hole.  I'm sure I'll be back to my silly self soon.

Have a good day!

Repetition

Once upon a time the Hubs and I loved the sounds of our own voices and repeating certain phrases sooo much that we decided to become parents.  Oh the joy we now have saying things like, "Firecracker, pick up the toys",  "Sweet pea, don't take that from your brother", "leave each other alone" etc.  Our plan worked so well (please note the sarcasm).

The moral to this story?  Children, no matter how well behaved, always need to be instructed.  Sometimes multiple times, and sometimes with more than just words.  Sometimes it takes consequences, which is no fun for anyone.  However, they also are the source of more joy than you can imagine.

Have a great weekend!

Dancing

Sweet pea loves all things musical.  She will make up her own songs, and sing them again and again (pretty much til all of us have the "words" memorized too :).

Another aspect of Sweet pea's love for music comes in the form of dancing.   The girl loves to dance.  She thinks is great!  I love to watch her dance.  She puts all she has into it.  The only "problem"?  Unfortunately, Sweet pea got my sense of rhythm.  She dances like a white girl on crack.

Oh well!  Sweet pea's dancing will still be adorable for a few more years ;).  And then maybe we can send her to dance lessons, and she can learn from someone who has rhythm what dancing SHOULD look like ;).

Have a great day!

Say Cheese!

Yesterday I called Disney to find out if they had found my camera I lost there.  The Hubs kept insisting that it was a lost cause, but I still held onto a shred of hope that they would find it.

I do not have a sentimental attachment to that camera, but I have irreplaceable pictures on it.  I hadn't down loaded my pictures off of my camera for at least a month, and the first 3/4 of our time at Disney was on it!  I hated to think it was gone forever.

At first the lady told me they did not have a camera that matched the description of mine.  However, she took my name and number and said she'd call me if one turned up.  I figured I'd have to call back in a few days and check again.  2 or 3 hours later the same lady called back and told me they found my camera!!!!  I'm so thrilled!!!  And to top it all off, they are mailing it to me free of charge.  Another reason Disney is one of the best places on earth ;).  So I should be able to share my pictures with you next week sometime!

Have a great day!

Disney!!!

The Hubs and I used to go to Disney World every year over Labor Day weekend.  It is a tradition I have always loved!  (Actually, it's one I initiated, and kept going).  Well, because Firecracker is now the age that we have to buy him a ticket we can no longer go every year. =(

However, this year we had saved up enough moola to get to go! YIPPEE!!!  The kids had such a fantastic time.  It was amazing.  I have always loved Disney, but getting to watch them experience it is that much better.  The wonder in their little eyes, the amusement at the smallest things, and the pure joy at getting to meet some of their favorite characters!

Now would normally be the time I would share some of my favorite pictures from the trip.... However, on one of the rides my camera got lost =(.  Thankfully, it wasn't one that had water, or one that was super fast, but it's lost none the less. The Disney workers assured me that at the end of the night they would do their best to find it.  It's been so chaotic that I haven't had a chance to call and see if it's in lost and found now.  That will be numero uno on the agenda today.  If they've found it they said they could ship it to me!  YAY!  Fingers crossed!

Have a great day!
