5 Question Friday

Good Morning, Friends!  It's Friday!!!  Yippee!!!  Tomorrow we're finally going to put our Christmas tree up! =)  I LOVE looking at beautiful Christmas trees and lights.  They remind me of being a kid.

Alright on with the 5 question fun!  Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting me link up.

1. What do you give teachers for gifts?
Well, since my munchkins aren't in school yet we don't give teacher gifts yet.  But I know there are lots of great things teachers would love.  Gift cards being the top of the list.

2. Do you text? One finger texter or total pro? I text yes.

My phone has a full keyboard so I use 2 fingers to text, but I would not consider myself a total pro.  I can get my idea across and that's really all that matters.  Ya know what I mean?

3. Do you give back during the holidays? If so, in what way/which is your favorite charity?

Yes, we always give back during the holidays.  We love Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child.  We fill shoe boxes with toys, candy and toiletry items and send them over seas to children who would never have a Christmas otherwise.

4. If you would've been the sole winner of the 575+ million dollar Powerball jackpot, what would you have done with all that money? Oh my.  First I would go on a cruise.  The Hubs and I went on a cruise for our honey moon and it was fabulous!  We haven't had the moola to go on another one.  After we got back from our cruise, we would build our own gated community.  And in this community we would build homes, but only for people we love.  We would all live close and we could allow our children to go outside and play without worrying about perverts or kidnappers.  And our kids would not fall in with "bad kids", because we would know the neighbors and their kids (heck we hand picked them!).  After that we would pay off our family's debt and probably give each family member a tidy sum.  Doesn't that sound fabulous?

The only problem with this plan?  We didn't buy a lotto ticket.  Sure we thought about it, but on the whole we knew it was such a small chance, especially since people who don't normally buy lotto tickets were buying them because of the huge jackpot so the chances were even smaller than normal.

5. Will you please take just a moment to spread the word and pray about Mama M.'s friend's missing family members? Yes, I've already prayed for them and will continue to.

Merry Christmas!  And have a great weekend!
Ms. T

Things I've learned About Myself

I've learned several things about myself since I became a parent.

1. I'm not above bribery.  Bribery can accomplish so much and in a much nicer tone than threatening can ;).  I am not afraid of bribing my children to get them to behave.

2. I've learned that at least for the next 20 years I'll never be left alone.  Not even while I'm in the bathroom.  Even when I lock them out they still call to me through the door and sometimes even stick their hands as far under the door as they possibly can.

3. I've learned that no matter how long my children's sleeping pattern has continued in one way as soon as I rely on it to stay that way it will change.

4.  Learning how wonderful the world is when you're "experiencing" it for the first time through your children's eyes.

I'm sure I'll learn more things I didn't know about myself since I'm not done being a Mommy.

Merry Christmas!

Have You Ever

Ok, I know you people just love when I unleash all my weird, wandering thoughts onto the blog.  So today I'm going to give you some more ;).

- Have you ever noticed how ridiculous the over acting on infomercials is?  I'm half expecting to see one for some "state of the art" finger nail clippers or something and them show us a woman with a regular set that clips her nail wrong and ends up on the floor in the fetal position bawling.  Seriously, we get that you're trying to sell us stuff you don't have to be that dramatic!

Side note: I've never been a fan of drama....  It's ridonculous, as the pigeons on Bolt say, and totally unnecessary.

- Have you ever been driving down the road and a few miles away from your house looked in the back seat to realize you've forgotten to buckle your munchkin into their car seat?  No?  Oh yeah, no me neither.........

- Have you ever stopped reading a book just because you didn't like the name of one of the main characters?  I mean Dino what a ridiculous name. That's the name of the Flinstone's pet for goodness sake!

Merry Christmas!
Ms. T

Bob the Builder

While we were on vacation we had to stop into Walmart to get a few things.  While we were there something made Firecracker think of Bob the Builder, one of his new favorite shows (he gets a new "favorite" show about once a week.  We rotate a lot...).  Anyway, as we were walking through the store Firecracker started singing at the top of his lungs: "Bob the Builder, YES OUR CAN!" and doing a fist pump into the air when he got to the end to accentuate his enthusiasm. (If you've ever seen Bob the Builder you know this is not the correct way to sing the song.  It actually goes "Bob the Builder, can we fix it? Yes we can!", but for some reason Firecracker doesn't like that way.  So as is typical for Fircracker he adjusts it to make it something he likes ;).

The Hubs and I tried to get Firecracker to sing his song in a much quieter voice.  However, before we accomplished this feat a nearby woman started laughing and singing with Firecracker!  Then she started telling the Hubs and I that Firecracker wasn't doing anything wrong and we should just let him sing because it was adorable.  The Hubs smiled and replied, "thank you, but not everyone is as forgiving as you are."  She walked away singing the Bob the Builder song loudly.  Which of course Firecracker joined in on.  And whenever it came to the "yes we can!" Part I saw her do a fist pump into the air.

No, I don't think she was a crazy person.  I think she got caught up in the joy of a little boy and a song.  I think she welcomed Firecracker's enthusiasm as a distraction from the ho hum duldrums of a normal Walmart trip.  It was really cute to watch she and Firecracker singing their duet.  And yes, once she was gone we succeeded in getting him to sing his song in a much softer tone ;).
Merry Christmas!

Thanksgiving

Before I get into this post, I'm so excited to say Merry Christmas to you all!!  It's finally that time of year again where we get to say that!  I love Christmas time!! ;)

Ok so on with the show, I know you must be thinking, Ms. T, Thanksgiving?  Again?  Aren't you a smidgen late?  Well, no I'm not, thank you for asking.  Our family went on a vacation over the week of Thanksgiving. We went to see my Father In Law and had a fabulous time!

I really enjoyed the time away, but I'm even happier to be home.  What is it about time away that makes you so happy to come home?  Home and routine are two things I take for granted until they're not there for one reason or another.

The trip is 12 hours one way.  I must say that while the munchkins didn't travel as well as they have in the past, they did do very well.  Praise the Lord for the person that invented travel dvd players.  I'm not going to lie, my children watched more tv on the trip then they are allowed to watch in 2 or 3 days combined when we're home.  However, it sure does make the trip waaaay more enjoyable for everyone involved!  And now we're home safe and sound with suitcases begging to be unpacked and laundry begging to be ignored, um I mean, laundry begging to be washed..... So off I go to dig in!

Merry Christmas!

We shall see!  Good luck to all my fellow crazies!  And to the rest of you that were smart enough to stay home all warm and cozy under your covers good for you.  And by the way, I spent 10.00 less than you!  Nenner, nenner, nenner!!! A List

With tomorrow being Thanksgiving I thought I might write a small list of things that I'm thankful for.

* My Salvation- Jesus is my Lord and Savior.  He died for me, He has washed away my sins and has secured a place for me in Heaven.  I am unworthy, but He loves me anyway!

* My Family-  From my blood relatives to my in laws to my husband to my children I am so blessed!  I wouldn't trade one of them.  They are my rock and the reason I make it through the rough patches in life.

* My Church- God has blessed us with an awesome church family.  We have people that we love and that love us that we never would have known without our church.  We love going to church, aside from Firecracker's protest about having to wear "church clothes" hahaha!  Aside from my actual family the people that I have met through the various churches I have attended in my life have become an awesome support system for me.  I know that when I seek advice from anyone of them I will be getting sound, biblical and loving advice.

* My home

* My air conditioner- This may sound silly, but trust me when you live in a place where the weather is over 90 degrees for a good portion of the year you are thankful for an air conditioner.

* My van- Recently my minivan was in the shop.  It was only supposed to take a day or two to fix, but the part missed getting out on the right truck etc. etc. so it took several days for it to get fixed.  And during those days I became more and more thankful for my van!

*The Hub's car- While my van was in the shop I had to use the Hub's car, because it was the only other vehicle we owned that could hold more than 2 passengers..... Well, aside from the 2nd love of the Hub's life.  Her name is Sally, and she's a beast.  She is a turbo charged mustang that literally whistles when you start her up.  (it's the sound the high powered turbo charger makes.  It makes the Hubs giddy with excitement)  And I'm not comfortable even thinking about driving her!  I'd be afraid I'd kill myself in it, or even worse wreck it and then the Hubs would kill me.  Either way I'd end up dead.  Not a good scenario.

* The fact that I get to be a stay at home Mama-  I am very aware that not every Mama gets the opportunity to stay home with her babies.  And while things are tight financially, I wouldn't trade one minute of this time.  I'm molding my babies into people.  I don't want to miss one second.  I love that when they fall down they come running to me and want me to kiss their boo boos.  I love that Firecracker says I'm his best friend.  I love that Sweet Pea giggles when I look at her funny.  I love that Firecracker knows most of "this little piggy" and attempts to do it to my toes.  I love that Sweet Pea wants to pick out her own shoes.  I love that Firecracker wants me to play cars with him.  And I could go on and on.

I could go on and on and on about how very very blessed I am.  It seriously brings tears to my eyes.  I may not be the richest person in the world, but I've been blessed in spades.

I hope you all have a great day!

Toes

I painted Sweet Pea's toes for the first time the other day.  And I painted mine to match.  If you ask me I think it's adorable!  If you ask the Hubs he thinks it's silly.  But really, he's a man.  Men don't understand these girly type things.

Don't you just love those chubby little feet?!  I wanna eat 'em up!

Hope you all have a great day!

Kitchen

Is it just in my house or is it everywhere that kitchens cannot stay clean?  I promise I clean my kitchen more than any other room in the house and yet until everyone else is in bed and I wash the last dish it continues to be a mess.  I'll show you.

I took this picture after I was proud of what I had done:
Yippee!  A nice clean kitchen!!! =)

Isn't this a peaceful sight to you?  It is to me.  A place for everything and everything in it's place.  Ahhhhh!  So faby! (I read this word in a book the other day and thought it was kind of cute.  So this is the first time I've tried to use it, and it is coming across odd and outta wack.  This may be the first and last time I use this word.  Oh well, sometimes you just gotta give it a go ;).

Anyway, I turn my back for .54554221 of a second and look what I came back to:
Sweet Pea is the only welcome addition to this picture.  And since she can barely reach the counter, I'm pretty sure she didn't make the mess...... ;)
These are chores that my FIL calls "never get done" chores, because no matter how many times you do them they are never done.  Well, I better go clean my kitchen again, because I'm sure it needs it again ;).

Hope you all have a great day!
Ms. T

5 Question Friday

Good morning, Friends!
Today is going to be jammed full of things to do.  Why is it that Mamas seem to always have 94,847,583,920 things to do?  Ahh that's ok, I wouldn't trade being a Mama for anything.  Ok, enough of my whining.  On with the 5 question fun!  Thanks to Kate for hosting this week's 5 question Friday.

1.  What snacks/drinks do you eat at the movies?
The Hubs LOVES him some popcorn.  So usually when we get into the foyer of the theater he makes a dash for the snack stand.  Of course ignoring my point that we just had dinner and that it's ridiculous to spend 5.00 on a small thing of popcorn.  Oh well, he's worth it ;).

2. What is one food you refuse to ever try?
This is a tough one, because I like to try all kinds of foods. I like to be open minded when it comes to food. However, if someone presented something really weird like goat brains I'm sure I'd decline.

3.  What's your favorite nail polish color?
Anything that's bright!  I love a good hot pink or neon green or road reflector orange.  I know that's probably too young for me, but I can't help myself.  I'm modest in every other aspect of my appearance so I go all crazy on my toes ;).

4.  What's your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?
I'd have to say my favorite Thanksgiving tradition would be having the whole family together.  I took that for granted when I was a kid.  Now that my family is scattered everywhere I am so grateful when we are all together and doing crazy shenanigans (which sets terrible examples for our children ;).

5.  What are your least favorite words in the English language?
I'm going to have to say cuss words are my least favorite words.  I despise hearing people cuss.  It makes you look ignorant, not important.  I understand being frustrated, because believe it or not I get that way too! I know that must shock you.  And I understand some people slip every now and again.  I'm not judging, but come on.  The people that can't complete a full sentence without at least 1 cuss word?  That bothers me a lot.  I don't like to judge, because the Bible says, "judge not unless you want to be judged".  However, I can chose to leave the area when someone is filling my (and my children's) ears with verbal garbage.  Ok, I'm climbing down from my soap box now =).

I hope you all have a great weekend!!

Hands

I want to share with you a story about hands.  I know this sounds funny, but hang in there with me.
 These hands

  And these hands raised me.
They taught me right from wrong.  They taught me about Jesus and how to love others like He loves us.  They taught me how to be a wife and how to love your spouse unconditionally.

These hands belong to the love of my life.  They help me, understand me, they're patient with me and they change diapers!  These hands lead me spiritually and are there for me no matter what.

And finally, these hands.  These hands need me to guide them.  They need me to be the one to teach them right from wrong.  To teach them how about Jesus, to teach them how to love others like He loves them.  They need me to teach them how to be a wife/ husband to their future mate.  They need me to teach them how to love their spouse unconditionally.  I'm not gonna lie, it's a tall order, and one that I wonder every day whether or not I'm doing it as well as I should be Thankfully, I have other hands to help me guide these precious ones.

All of these hands hold my heart.  I love them like no other.  And I thank God every day for the roles these precious hands play in my life.

I hope you all have a great day!

Pictures

On Friday I told you all about how the Hubs and I were going to be going to the beach to take the munchkin's pictures.  And I promised to get some to you as soon as possible.  Well, I'm going to make good on that promise today! =)

Here are some of my favorites:

I have such sweet, beautiful babies =).

Melted

Firecracker had a rough behavioral week last week.  He was constantly in troubleMost parents understand when I say, "he was testing his boundaries."  He wanted to make sure that when I said not to do something I would follow through.  These periods are very trying for everyone involved.  Anywho, this is the setting for this story.

One day during this trial period,  Firecracker turned to me and said, "I love you Fweetheart."

Oh my goodness!  I melted right on the spot!  It's moments like this that make parenting worth it, even when the kiddos are being rotten the rest of the time! ;)

No words can truly express how much I love that little boy.  Firecracker is truly a joy.

Hope you all have a great day!

5 Question Friday

Good morning, Friends.  It’s Friday!  I’m excited, because today the Hubs and I are going to haul our little ones to the beach and I’m going to attempt some pictures.  I’ve never done that type of setting, and I’d like to try it out.  I’ll post pictures eventually.
Well, on with the 5 question fun!  Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting us link up.

1. If you had c-section do you wish you would have had vaginal? Or vice versa?
I had my babies the natural way.  And no, I don’t wish I had a c- section.  I have friends that have had both natural births and c-sections and they all swear to me that natural is better.  I wouldn’t know, because I never had a c-section, but I’m glad I was able to have my babies naturally.

2. If vaginal did you go drug free?

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! No! I was all, “give me all the drugs I can have!!”  I had no grand dilusions of being able to make it through drug free.  I know women that have given birth drug free and I admire them.  However, from the minute I found out I was prego I knew I wouldn’t be one of those women!

3. Did you have any complications?

With Firecracker I had complications during delivery.  I will spare you all the gorey details, but I nearly died.  But thanks to a wonderful Midwife and Doctor Firecracker and I both pulled through.
With Sweet Pea there were no complications at birth.  She was an easy one (comparatively).  I even told the Hubs after she was born, “that’s the normal way for child birth, no wonder people are willing to have more than one!”  (Sweet Pea was a planned pregnancy, but it took me a LONG time to consent to having a second)

4. Who was in the delivery room with you?

With Firecracker, my whole family came in the delivery room, until it was time to start pushing.  For real, and my Daddy was watching the mini series Band of Brothers (it's about a platoon in WWII).  Yeah, not exactly birthing material.
Once it came time for pushing we kicked everyone out except, my Midwife, who I consider part of the family.  I seriously love her.  When I was close to giving birth to Sweet Pea she gave me her phone number and told me to use it whenever I wanted.  And, because she knew I had complications with Firecracker, she called me 3 or 4 times between visits during the week before I gave birth just to check on me.  She’s the sweetest!  My Mama, and the Hubs. And once things started to go south while giving birth to Firecracker, the Doc and about 10 nurses (or so the Hubs tells me, I knew it was a lot, but I had lost a lot of blood and barely remember the end of it) That's it.

5. Did you document your labor and delivery? (Photos, videos, etc.)
No.  We did take pictures afterwards, which I looked a mess in, but during?  Nope.  I saw no reason for that.  Kudos to those that chose to do that, but it’s not my style.  I don’t need my whoo ha saved forever in photo form, thankyouverymuch!

Hope you all have a great weekend!
Ms. T
