Too Much Information, Kid

Firecracker gets very excited about anything super hero related.  I should have remembered this when I gave him his new Spider man underwear.  He was absolutely thrilled and wanted to wear them under his clothes (obviously) to church last Wednesday night.  I was totally cool with that.

Well, Thursday morning rolled around and Firecracker was still excited about his Spiderman underwear.  He even told me while I was making breakfast, "yeah, Mommy, I even showed my friend my new underwear last night!"  I stopped mid stride, my mouth agape.  "What did you say, Firecracker?  You showed your friend your underwear last night at church?!"

Firecracker looked at me like I was nuts before saying, "yeah, Mommy.  My friend thought they were cool."

*Trying to keep a straight face* I replied, "ok, dude, I'm glad that your friend liked your new underwear, but it's not ok to pull your pants down and show people your underwear."

Firecracker just looked at me for a minute and then said, "ok, Mommy".  And off he ran to play.

Oh the things I have to deal with that never crossed my mind when I was preggers with this little man!  Gotta love him!

Have a great day!

All Done?

Sweet pea has started a new "trick".  When she has decided she doesn't want to eat any more, because she'd rather go play, but she knows that because she hasn't eaten enough to be allowed to get up, she starts piling her food onto Firecracker's plate.  Once her plate is "clean" she throws her arms in the air and says, "all done, Mommy" very excitedly.

She thinks she is so tricky.  What she doesn't realize is that 1. I see her doing it, 2. I will bust her on this when I stop laughing about it.... One of these days.

Yes, I realize she is lying.  And yes, I do plan on busting her on this the next time I see it. It just caught me off guard (neither time was I at the table when she did this.  I just happened upon it as I re-entered the room).

Even though I know she is doing wrong, I still laugh about it in my head (I hold many conversations there.  Most of them I find hysterical.  I KNOW I'm crazy.  I take meds for it ;).

Have a great day!

Embarrassment

Just when you think you've become immune  to the embarrassment your children can cause you, they rise to the occasion.  The children chose to say, "Challenge accepted, parents!"

Yesterday, it was Sweet Pea that accepted the challenge and hit new heights of embarrassment for her parents.  We were at church, and I was signing her into the Nursery (they have each parent sign the child in and then they are assigned a pager and a # for being reached for emergency and security purposes).  The Hubs, Firecracker and Sweet Pea were all out in the hallway that leads to the Nursery waiting for me to finish signing her in.

All the sudden there was an ear piercing siren going off.  I looked back and Sweet Pea had somehow managed to reach the fire alarm!  Not only was the alarm going off in the Nursery building it was also going off in the adjoining building too.  UGH!  So we walked out to find someone to help turn it off, and there are all these people outside trying to escape the "fire".  I wanted to hide in a closet!!

Thankfully the people at our church are very forgiving, and they have great senses of humor.  Everything turned out fine, the Fire dept. was called and told it was a mistake, and the alarm was turned off.  And church went on as planned.

Oh, my children!  I love them to bits!  I hope they will never find a way to top this embarrassment, because this level is pretty high!

Have a great day!

5 Question Friday

Good morning, my friends!  It's finally Friday!!  It's been a long week and I'm looking forward to just hanging with the family this weekend with no particular plans.

Ok, on with the 5 question fun!

1.  What is your best secret cleaning tip?
Ok, *in a hushed voice, leaning in really close* actually clean.  I know!  Shocking right?!  Seriously, I don't know if I have an actual cleaning tip besides bleach.  I LOVE bleach.  I use it for just about everything that I can.

2.  What is your favorite food to snack on during movie night?
Popcorn!  Gotta love having a nice big bowl of popcorn, a kid, or Hubs to snuggle with and a good movie.  Ahhh! perfection!

3.  If it was up to you, what would you have named the royal baby?
I don't really care.  I have never been one to get wrapped up in all the royal stuff.  I mean when I was a teenager I fantasized that Prince William and I would get married and live happily ever after.  With all that being said, I'd probably go with something classic like Michael, or Luke or Jimmy-John-Joe-Bob.  You know something classic like that ;)

4.  If you could be any Disney character who would you choose?
I'd probably go with Rapunzel.  She's got a wicked swing with a frying pan, she charms people easily and she gets one rockin' birthday party every year!  On the downside, brushing all that hair is kind of crazy.

5.  What is the most important part of a healthy relationship?
Friendship.  If you don't have friendship, you're building that relationship on sand, and when the first hard rain comes it will dissolve away.  That and lots of sex.  Just sayin'

Have a great weekend!

Giant Napkin

Firecracker never ceases to amaze me with the things he thinks up!  He has started a new habit that is definitely not one of my favorites.  When he is eating if he happens to get anything on his hands he promptly hops down from his seat and wipes his hands on the carpet!

Where does Firecracker come up with this stuff?!  Of course I correct him and make him use a REAL napkin, but seriously where does he learn this?  It's not like he has ever seen the Hubs or I do anything like this.  The way these little people's minds work will never stop astounding me.

Have a great day!

Walks

I'm blessed to have good friends.  I heard someone say once that if you have 5 true friends in your whole lifetime you are blessed.  I can honestly say I'm amongst those that are truly blessed.

Anyway, one of my friends and I, Ms. S, used to walk/ run 3 miles 3 to 4 nights a week.  We would chat and laugh and talk about our life's issues.  It was cathartic.

Since I've gotten married and had 2 babies, and her life has gotten more hectic (she has 5 children), and we both moved further away from one another, our walks have become MUCH more sporadic.  We walk maybe once a month.  Talk about a major change!

Last night Ms. S and I went walking.  It was so much fun!  Once again we chatted, laughed and talked about how good God is to us.  These nights always make me long for more often walks.  We'll see....

Have a great day!

Cuddles

Firecracker is in this stage where when he wakes up in the morning he comes into my room, wakes me up and will get in the bed with me to cuddle for a few minutes.  It really is one of my favorite parts of the day.

Some days he'll cuddle for half a minute, where there are other days when he'll cuddle with me for 10 minutes or more.  I LOVE that he is willing to cuddle.  Firecracker has never been a cuddler, so this change has been an awesome one.

I know that Firecracker is growing up super fast.  I'm watching time fly past me way too quickly.  So I'll enjoy these moments as long as I possibly can.

Have a great day!

5 Question Friday

Good morning, friends!  Today Firecracker is spending the day with his cousins.  I almost don't know what to do with myself.  I know I still have 1 kid, but it's soooo weird.

Ok, onto the 5 question fun!

1.  What is one thing you have to many of in your house?
Hmmm, can I say clutter?  Clutter is everywhere it seems.  Other than that I'd probably go with toy cars.  When I cleaned out the toys the other day I organized them and put all the toy cars together and all by themselves they fill one 13 gallon bin!  That is Ca-Ra-AzY.

2.  Did anything go not quite as planned on your wedding day?
Well, see I was not a high maintenance bride (at least in my own opinion).  Yes, I wanted things to be pretty and wonderful, but I didn't stress out about them as long as the Hubs and I were married at the end of the day I was one happy girl!
All that to say, yes, of course there were things that didn't go as planned on my wedding day.  I don't think I could name a wedding that DIDN'T have something go wrong or not as planned.  Hahaha!  Anyway, our wedding was out doors and up til about 30 minutes before the ceremony it was pouring down rain.  But it stopped and we got hitched ;)

3.  What is your favorite summer smoothie recipe?
Ummm, I'm not sure.  I haven't been making smoothies lately.  I have however been making juice with my juicer.  And I will share that recipe:
1 lime
3 or 4 whole apples
1 cucumber

Throw it all in the juicer, put a little ice in it and stir.  Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!  So delicious!!!  Oh great now I'm craving one =)

4.  What is the weather like where you are?
HOT.  It is crazy hot here.  I'm talking - walk outside to go to the car and start sweating- kind of hot.  It is ridiculous.  However, I've always lived here so I'm used to it.  It doesn't make me love it, but I'm used to it.

5.  What is your favorite book to read to your kids?
We have a Veggie Tales devotional book that the kids and I both love.  Other than that my favorite book changes.  Mostly it's ones that we haven't read in a while.  Oh and NONE of the Disney books that come from the movies.  Ie Toy Story, Lion King, Little Mermaid etc.  Those books are sooooooo long.  I mean I'm all about reading to my kids.  We all love it, but when it takes 15 minutes to read a kids book we all lose interest.

Okie dokie have a great weekend!
Ms. T

Sweet Pea's New Phrase

Sweet pea has started talking a lot as of late.  It's awesome to hear her chat up a storm.

Sweet pea's latest phrase happens to be "Firecracker did it!"  I hear it constantly.  Hahaha!  She is definitely shaping up to be quite the little sister ;).  The funniest thing is that the Hub's first phrase when he was a kid was, "brother did it".  Hahahaha!  Like Father like Daughter.

Have a great day!

The Great Toy Clean Out of 2013

The other day I was sick and tired of all the CRAP that was floating around in the toy boxes.  You know what I'm talking about the McDonald's toys that never get played with (because most of the time they are down right stupid), the toys that only have 3 of the 87 pieces, broken toys etc.

So instead of just being frustrated with it all I decided to go through it ALL.  Wow, can I tell you I had no idea how much junk my children had accumulated?  Because they had!

I threw away at least one full garbage bag of junk. Now mind you I had to do this in the dead of night, because my kids flip out if they think I'm getting rid of something.  Even if it's a toy they don't like or haven't played with in months.  So I have to smuggle the toys out like it's a cotton pickin' drug deal! Haha!

I have even more things that need to be donated, because my kids just don't play with them any more.  And to top it all off, I organized it all!  Yep, I have specified boxes and bins for certain toys, and designated areas for groups of things (ie. toy cars).

Oh it is so nice!  It truly is a wonderful thing to behold.  I only hope that my children can keep it this way for a little while. =)  The Hubs says this is a pipe dream, but I'll keep on dreaming, my friends!

Have a great day!

Skechers

I needed a new pair of tennis shoes, because my old tennis shoes were literally falling apart. So I found an amazing new pair of shoes.  Skechers Flex Appeal with Memory Foam.  Oh my goodness I LOVE these shoes!

These shoes are fabulous.  They are like walking on a cloud.  And the memory foam hugs your feet as you walk.  They are like a soft, squishy, cloud that hugs you.  When I put them on my feet sing.  They sing a song that goes something like, "these are amazing, my feet feel fabulous, I could walk all day and not get tired!"

I cannot say enough good things about these shoes.  Ok, so I'm really going to stop sounding like a crazy person.

Have a great day!

Get Away

Remember on Friday I told you the Hubs and I had plans for this last weekend?  Ok, now I'm ready to tell you all about our wonderful weekend.

The Hubs and I went off on a mini get away to celebrate our anniversary.  We never leave our kids over night.  It's hard on us.  So this was a HUGE deal.  Of course the fact that my wonderful parents were watching them did allay many of our fears.

It was wonderful!  The Hubs and I went shopping without little people yanking on us, asking for stuff, hiding in the racks of clothing (I remember doing this as a kid and thought it was soooo cool.  My Mama would get upset with me and tell me not to do it.  I never understood why, until I had kids.  Once again my Mama was right ;), begging to go ride on the kiddie rides in the middle of the mall etc.

The Hubs and I went to the movies without worrying about what time we needed to get home to relieve the baby sitter.  And we went to dinner without having to shush kiddos so as not to disturb other diners.

Don't get me wrong.  The Hubs and I missed the kids terribly, however, it was nice just to have a few days to focus on us and our relationship.  And now we are back to the real world ;)

Have a great day!
Ms. T

5 Question Friday

Good morning, my friends!  The Hubs and I have some special stuff planned this weekend!  I'm uber excited!!!  I'll fill you all in on Monday.  For now, let's get to the questions.

1.  Would you rather pay for house cleaner or spa day?
If I had to choose between the two I think I'd choose a house cleaner.  Ohhhh or maybe a laundry doer!!!  I despise laundry.  It is my arch nemesis.

2.  Who plans what gifts you get for the holidays, you or your spouse?
Well, it's kind of a mix.  The Hubs does a great job, but every once in awhile I'll tell him exactly what I want, or I'll just talk about whatever it is I want for weeks before hand.  The Hubs is pretty good at catching on ;).

3.  How many hours of sleep do you get?  Do you need more?
It depends on the day, most days I aim for 8 hours, however, when I'm depressed it ends up being more like 12 or more.  I know that is pathetic, but it's how I cope.

4.  Do you like your hair long or short?
Until recently I would have said that I like my hair longer.  However, about 2 months ago I chopped off my hair into a pixie cut.  It is so awesome!!  I love it!  It takes approximately 3.4 seconds to do my hair and then out the door I go.  It's liberating =)

5.  When was the last time you were pulled over and what was it for?
Ok, I will tell you, but under protest, which I will explain in a minute.
I have never been pulled over for a traffic violation.
Now, onto the reason I protested telling you in the first place.....  I have become superstitious about stuff like this.  I know it's silly, but when I say things like "I've never ______" it inevitably ends up happening.  I know what you're thinking, "say something like 'I've never won the lottery'"  I'd love to, but that's not the way it works.  I'll give you an example of this working against me:
When I was 18 I was talking to a group of friends all of whom were mentioning the different bones they'd broken at different times in their lives.  I piped up with, "I've never broken a bone".  Not 1 week later I broke my elbow in a volley ball game.
Now I know that this sounds silly, and I was taught my whole life that superstitions are silly and nothing but I can't help it.  Stuff like this happens when I say "I've never _____" .  So now I promise to tell you WHEN I get pulled over.  Thanks random person for asking this question!  I should send you the ticket ;)

Have a great weekend!
Ms. T

Cleaning My Washer

The other day I was perusing Pinterest (I know, shocker right? ;).  And I found a pin that was talking about how to wash out your washing machine.  At first I thought, "why would you need to clean out your washing machine?  You use it to clean everything else."  And then it hit me, "Oh my word!  Why WOULDN'T you want to clean out your washer?  I mean think about all the gross stuff you throw into it?"

So I decided to clean my washer.  And I'll tell ya, I'm so glad I did!  You should see the rag I used to clean the nooks and crannies.  Sick nasty!

If you decide you want to attempt to clean your washer (it's super easy, by the way), here are the directions.

Have a great day!

Curse Words?

Every kid goes through that awkward phase when certain words they say sound like something very different.  And sometimes they sound like they have sailor's mouths!

I feel like I need to put an ex-claimer on Sweet pea and some of nephews.  Something like, "No, my daughter is not calling you the f word.  She is saying, truck".  Or, "No, my nephew is not calling you a female dog, he's saying bridge". Etc.

Oh well, one thing is for sure, these wonderful little people make life interesting! =)

Have a great day!

Gilmore

June 29th was the Hub's and my 6th wedding anniversary.  We did the regular exchanging of gifts and he majorly surprised me!  He bought me all 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls!!!

I'm a giant Gilmore fan.  I've seen every episode multiple times (I'm out of digits), and since we cut cable I hadn't been able to watch them anymore.  I did fine for several months, but about a month ago I got the Gilmore itch.

I have a good friend who has the seasons on dvd and allowed me to borrow them.  I was enjoying watching them, and then our anniversary came up and BAM!  I now OWN all 7 seasons!!!!!  I can watch them as much as I want to!! =)

The Hubs knows me sooooo well!  And although I try not to force him to watch Gilmore too often, He also knows the majority of the inhabitants of Stars Hollow and all their strange quirks.  He's such a catch!  Back off, Ladies!  The Hubs is all mine! =)

Have a great day!

Melt My Heart

The other day Firecracker and I were driving and we passed a homeless person asking for money.  Firecracker asked me why the man was there.

I tried to explain to him that sometimes people don't have a house, food or money so they ask others to help them by giving them money.  Firecracker then asked why the man didn't have any money.  I told him because the man most likely didn't have a job.  Daddy has a job and that is how we buy food and pay for our house.

After a few quiet, thoughtful moments Firecracker piped up and said, "Mommy, I have a lot of money in my piggy bank".  I said, "yes, buddy you have money in your bank." (I wasn't sure where he was going with this).  Then he said, "yep, and I could give that man my money."

Oh my goodness!!  Melt this Mama's heart!!!!  My boy may be a crazy person sometimes, but he's loveable and loving.  He is learning to be compassionate and I'm so proud of him.

Have a great day!

Will Power, Exercise and Chocolate

I am one of those people that has very little will power when it comes to food.  I'll decide to eat right on Monday morning and by Monday afternoon that plan is shot.  I don't know why I'm so bad about it.  Anyway, so I've decided I need to exercise more, because eating less doesn't seem to be working in my favor.

I've been doing pretty well with exercising more and I'm feeling pretty good about it.  The only problem?  Chocolate.  Chocolate is my problem.  I'm having trouble losing the pounds, because every time I turn around chocolate is beckoning to me.  It says, "Ms. T, I taste so yummy.  You did your exercise last night so one little bite won't hurt."  And then before I know it I've eaten the entire candy bar.  UGH!!!

So I've decided to do the Juicing diet.  It's all the rage right now, and I've done a few days here and there in the past and liked it.  So my goal is to do it for 3 days in a row.  (Start with a small attainable goal, that's my plan).  I'll let you know how it goes.  My only question is how well do you think a chocolate bar will do in the juicer???  Hahaha!

Have a great day!

Super Hero Prayers

About a month ago I told you all about Firecracker's Super Hero phase.  Well, not only is he still in it, but now it has seeped into bed time prayers.

Often during prayer time the hubs or I will pray and Firecracker will repeat us. (He started doing this on his own, and I think it's cute).  Well, we always make sure to thank the Lord for the things He has given us ie. our cars, our house, our clothes etc.  Well, when Firecracker repeats us it comes out as, "Thank you Lord for our secret lair, our batman motorcycle". etc. (no we do not own a motorcycle, but it's a mode of transportation)

That boy never ceases to crack me up!!  I love him to pieces.

Have a great day!

6 or 7?

Last Saturday the Hubs and I celebrated 6 wonderful years of marriage!  I can honestly say that when God created the Hubs He was making him just for me.  God knew where I'd fall short and would need help.  And conversely God knew where the Hubs would need a little extra support.  We are an amazing team!

Saturday morning I got up and kissed the Hubs and thanked him for picking me.  Then I gave him his card that said I was looking forward to the next 93 years of our lease (we joke that on our wedding day we signed a lease for 100 years and once those 100 are up then we'll re-evaluate and see if we want to re-up the lease ;).  The Hubs read the card and looked at me all confused.  He said, "wait, we've been married 7 years?"  Then I realized that I counted the year we dated in my adding.  Whoops!

Apparently, I'm awful at math, or maybe it's just that my memory is shot.  Hey, at least I remembered it was our anniversary!

Have a great day!
