Options

Sweet Pea has her own sense of style now days.  In her little world, Mommy can fix everything, brother is her best friend, every toy belongs to her, and when she wants it you'd better give it up (no, she doesn't always get her way.  What kinda Mommy would that make me?) and to her clothing is optional.  Oh yes, my friends, you read that right.  Clothing is optional, but shoes?  Oh no shoes are a MUST!  She brings me the shoes she desires to wear and is persistent until she is wearing them.  Then she prances around the house like she's the queen of the world.  =)

And with that introduction here is a picture of one of her infamous shoe matches. =)

My sweet girl =).

Hope you all have a great day!

Mini Pumpkins

At church Firecracker's class was having a mini pumpkin decorating contest.  I googled it and came up with a few ideas (honestly, I'm not creative, I just know how to use the internet ;).  A little mummy was what we came up with and I thought it was pretty darn cute!  It didn't win, but I still think he did a good job.  Not to mention it was simple.  Yay! for simplicity!  So without further adieu here is our baby tut:

5 Question Friday!

Good Morning, Friends!  It's Friday again =).  We are going to be having another busy weekend 'round these parts, but it's going to be fun.  Fall festivals, baby showers and of course Church!

Alrighty, on with the 5 question fun! Once again thanks to      Mama M.for letting us link up!  Here we go!
1. Who wakes up in the morning with the kids, you or hubby?

I wake up with the kids in the morning.  The Hubs leaves for work by 4:30 AM.  Thankfully, the kids don't wake up that early.  So I get up with them.  On the weekends the Hubs and I usually get up about 7:30ish.  We do this on Saturdays because we eat breakfast every Saturday morning with my BIL, Big Guy and SIL, Mrs. Big Guy at 9.  Then we get up that time on Sundays for Church.  The kids usually get up around 8 AM.

2. Do you watch the World Series even if your team isn't in it?

I'm not really into Lacrosse.  Hahaha!  I'm not THAT out of the loop.  I do know that the World Series is Football.... Hahaha!  Ok, for real, I'm not into baseball really.  Unless I'm at a game.  Then I think it's cool.  But to sit down and watch it on t.v. no thanks.

3. What is the best compliment you have received?

That I am a good mother.  I am constantly questioning whether or not I am a good enough Mama to my babies.  I try my darndest, but I also know that there are days I could do better.

4. Do/did you dress up to take your kids trick or treating?

Nope.  I like to take my kiddos to fall festivals.  I am not a dresser upper though.  I'm the one behind the camera not in front of it.  So why dress up?

5. Do you have a favorite bible verse? What is it and why?

I do have a favorite verse.  It is Jeremiah 33:3, "Call unto me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not."  This verse is such an amazing promise.  God is promising that if we ask Him He WILL answer us!  Isn't that awesome?!

I hope you all have a great day!

Movies

I have long been a lover of movies. In high school my friends and I would quote movies at one another and laugh.  In college my last froomate (friend+room mate= froomate) and I watched movies late into the night.  Everything from Scar face to the Princess Bride.  I know that combination is inconceivable! Sorry, I couldn't resist.  Anyway, the movie quotes continued and so did the laughs.

College life was not the end of the movie loving for my life.  The Hubs and I watch movies and we quote our favorites constantly.  It just happens to be our thing.  Reason number 9,948,753 that I love him ;).

Anyway, the point here is that while I love movies too often our society gets caught up in them.  Believing that there really is a happy ending out there.  And while there are ways to be happy, we must not confuse the two.

Happy endings are just something story tellers long long ago made up.  I'm not trying to go all pesimistic on you guys, but think about it.  Beliving in the true version of happy endings is like believing I'm going to live in a giant tower with no doors where the only way to get in or out is to climb my bagillion mile long hair.  Ouch, by the way!

Now, I'm happy, ecstatic even with my life.  I consider myself blessed beyond measure.  I have 2 beautiful, sweet, loving children.  A Hubs that I couldn't love more if I tried.  And a family that is amazing.  However, my home still gets messy, our roof still had to be replaced, money is still tight. Etc. etc.

Our happily ever afters aren't handed to us.  We have to fight for them.  We have to create them and live them one day and moment at a time.

Hope you all have a great day!

Joggers

The other day the Hubs and I were sitting in the living room while the kids were napping.  He looked out the window and saw a woman jogging.  This is the conversation that took place afterwards:

H- That woman is wearing jeans to run in.  That's strange, but she's not screaming so she must be okay.

Me- (after I stop laughing) Maybe all her jogging clothes were dirty.

H- Obviously you've never been a runner.  Jeans will chaffe the inside of your legs so bad you'll be like a pastey white fat boy at the beach with nothing rubbed on but baby oil, burned!

Me- more laughing.

Reason number 495,053,938,727  that I love my Hubs ;).  He's so hilarious!

Hope you all have a great day!

Surreal

I enjoy blogging.  It has become an outlet for me and I love it.  I thank you for being a reader.  With that said sometimes it's a little surreal to have someone that I talk to all the time say something about one of my blog posts.  Not that it's a bad thing, but some times I forget that I've blogged about it and so it takes me a few minutes to realize how that person knows _______.   Hahaha!

It's almost like this is a giant diary that I write into most days and that I don't mind other people reading.  Wait, I'm not sure that's the correct usage of dairy...  Eh we'll go with it.  Most of the time no one says anything about it and I'm cool with that.  But when someone does say something I have to stop and think, "did I tell them that?  Or did they read it?" Hahahaha!  Just so we're all clear I enjoy talking to people about my blog, I just need a personal assistant to be my brain.  To remind me of all the things I forget like who I told what and what I wrote on here, and where I put my keys, and what I was supposed to buy at the store, and what I came into this room for.

If you'd like to apply for this position I'll be accepting applications from now til forever or until the position is filled.  Also, the job pays 0 at first and after your first 90 days we'll double your salary.  Doesn't that sound fabulous?! ;)

Hope you all have a great day!

Is It Halloween?

I don't normally tell Firecracker about exciting events that are coming up until they are one day away.  This is for my own personal sanity.  He gets so excited and then can't understand that we have to wait a week or two before _________ happens.  Another reason I do this is because life is uncertain.  I do not want to tell Firecracker we are going to do something in 2 weeks and then have something happen (good, bad or indifferent) that causes whatever we were planning to fall through.  It makes me look like a liar.  And I don't want my kid to think I don't keep my promises.

Anyway, I differed from my M.O. this time.  I brought home his Halloween costume and showed it to him.  He got soooo excited!  I told him for Halloween this year he's going to be Buzz Lightyear and his cousin, Big E is going to be Woody.  Firecracker was (and still is) so excited.  For days after wards he asked, "is it Halloween?"  And of course I had to tell him no.  That Halloween wouldn't be here for a long time, because to a 3 year old 2 weeks is a LONG time.

Now whenever we walk into a store and Firecracker sees Halloween decorations he gets all excited.  Thankfully he's not asking every single day anymore if it's Halloween yet.  My sweet boyWe will all be excited when Halloween really is here ;).

Hope you have a great day!

5 Question Friday

Yippee!  Friday is here!!  This weekend is going to be awesome!  The kids, my sister in law, Mrs. big guy, and my nephews and I are going to the park today.  Then later Ms. L’s Mama is going to help me make a pillowy thing for the car for Firecracker (I’ll post pics later).  Then tomorrow I am going to a baby shower for O’s mama =).  And to top it all off we have church on Sunday.  It’s going to be a fun, but busy weekend.
Alright so on with the fun.  Once again thanks to Mama M. my for letting us link up!
1. Where do you hide junk when people come over?
Anywhere they can’t see.  Seriously, if I don’t have time to put things away properly I will stash things in my bed room, or in closets.  Anyplace a normal person isn’t going to look.  If you come over and want to inspect my closets then, honey, I don’t care what you say, you’re not normal.  Unless you want to buy my house in that case you’re normal. =)

2. Do political ads help you decide who you are going to vote for?

Not even a little bit.  I find these ads are so ridiculous.  The things I look to when I’m deciding who I’m going to vote for are things like: 1. Honesty.  In their previous offices did they vote the way they are saying they’re going to vote if they get into _______.  2.  Integrity.  Are they willing to stand up for something they believe in even if it isn’t popular?  And that’s pretty much it.  So seriously, someone tell the candidates to stop mass mailing my house!  Save some stinkin’ trees peeps cuz I already know who I’m voting for.

3. What's your favorite holiday party to host?

Ummm if you’ve been reading this blog long at all you know I suffer from anxiety.  So my answer to this question would be never.  I’m not a “hostessey” type person, because the whole month before the party I’m freaking out because I know people are going to be coming to my house just to inspect it and look in my closets (yes, I know plenty of people that aren’t normal ;).  And while I know rationally they are coming to enjoy time with friends and family and not really to rate my cleaning abilities on a scale from 1 to 10 I still freak.  Oh and then for the week after the party I obsess over everything that was dirty that I missed, or that so and so looked a little too closely at the door to my messiest closet and I KNOW they had x-ray vision and were totally judging me.  Yep, folks, I’m just that messed up.

4. You go to an island with your husband and can only take one personal item. What is it?

This question really doesn’t have enough detail for me.  Is this island a deserted island or one of those swanky resort islands?  If it’s a deserted island I’d take a pillow with me.  Because for real who can sleep flat without waking up with a neck ache?!  If it’s a resort island I’d go with my purse.  Because I have to have something to smuggle all those little shampoo bottles, and little bars of soap out in! hahahaha!!! J/k ya’ll I don’t really do that.  But for real, the purse would have to come, because I think I was a girl scout in another life.  I have so much junk in there I’m pretty sure I could live in the woods for months with that sucker and do pretty well.  Hmmm…. Maybe I should rethink the deserted island option and just try to jam a pillow in my purse?

5. If you found out your spouse was a Dexter style serial killer (only kills people to save others) would you rat?
How is my spouse saving others?  Because I’ve never watched this show so it’s a mystery to me.  Anywho, I’ll answer this the best I can.  Probably not.  I mean if he’s making up weirdo excuses like, “oh I killed that guy, because he was going to make incorrect change for that lady on purpose!”  Then yeah, I’m gonna report it, because who knows next he might be after me, because I’m not gonna save him the last twix bar (and by the way, that’s real life yo.).  But if he’s saving others like killing a scumbag that is beating his wife and children so severely they are on death’s doorstep then heck no, I’m not gonna report him.
I hope you all have a great day!
Ms. T

Weirdo

I am a weirdo.  I have never denied this fact in my life.  And for some reason I want to share with you a few of the things that make me a weirdo.  If you're a fellow weirdo, I'm glad to have your company =).

1.  I love the click, clicky sound the vacuum makes when it picks up stuff off the carpet.  It's close to Heaven.

2.  Bleach is an awesome thing.  I enjoy it thoroughly.  I love the smell it gives off.  It makes me KNOW that my house is clean.

3.  If I have a snack and I don't want the kids to beg for it I hide.  (I know I'm a bad mom.  So stop judging! =)

4.  I watch reruns of Gilmore Girls incessantly.  When the Hubs and I got married he'd never seen a single episode.  Now, he knows them all.  Has his favorites (and those he can't stand: Kirk and Taylor being the 2 biggest offenders), and most of the time knows the gist of whats happening when I tell him which episode I'm watching.  I know it's a sickness.  And the thing is, he doesn't even care for the show.  Poor guy.  He's very seldom subjected to it anymore.  Now we watch more shows like Mickey Mouse and Cat in the Hat then we do grown up shows.

5.  I love Veggie Tales and sometimes sing along with the songs I know.  (P.s. I did this before I had children to blame it on...)

6.  I obsess about things sometimes.  Weird stuff, like if my shoes look right (as an example).  To the point where I can think of nothing else til I get home.

Now that you're all on information over load about my weirdo-ness.  I will conclude this and allow you to rest your brains. =)

Hope you all have a great day!
Ms. T

Hand From Heaven

The other day I was jealous because some people are better off than we are.  Now, we aren't poor by any stretch.  We are comfortable and all our needs are met, but there isn't any extra in our budget.

Anyway, I was just being a complainer.  More in my own head than to anyone else.  The very next morning I was reading my Bible.  I just "happened" to be in Psalms 4.  I read verse 7 and it said, "You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound."

Talk about a Holy Hand from Heaven reaching down and smacking my head.  It was almost like God was speaking audibly to me.  "Ms. T, you have joy.  You have Me, I have provided everything you've ever needed.  Do you think at this point in your life I'm just going to leave you?!"  It truly was humbling, and convicting.

I am blessed beyond measure.  I have so much.  I need to stop being jealous and start counting my blessings.  I have so many that could easily take up the majority of my day.

Hope you have a great day!

Motorcycle Cops

The other day Firecracker and I were looking at a book together.  In the book the Police men were on motorcycles.  He asked me who they were.  When I told him they were Police men he got very upset.
Firecracker: "No, Mommy, Police men drive cars!"
Me: "Yes, some of them do, but sometimes they drive motorcycles."
F: "No, they can't."
M: "Sorry, buddy, but you're wrong.  They can. They're allowed to, their Mommies say so."
F: "No, my Grandpop has a motorcycle. Police men no drive motorcycles."

And then I gave up.  Oh and by the way, he is right the Hub's Dad does own a motorcycle.  What that had to do with why Policemen apparently aren't allowed to drive them I don't know.  He's such a little nut.

In short, motorcycle cops don't really exist.  At least not in Firecracker's little world. ;)

Hope you all have a great day!

5 Question Friday!

Good morning, Friends!  It’s Friday!!!  Yee Haw!   Today it's my little bro, the Ham's, birthday!!!  If he were close I'd hug him, squeeze his cheeks and tell him just how big he's grown since the last time I saw him.  Sniff, sniff.  Today he's the big 27!  He's so ooooold!  Oh wait... He's younger than me..... Ummm he's actually a spring chicken yet.  He's not even close to old =).  Love ya, little bro!
This weekend is gonna be fun! I’m going yardsailing tomorrow with a friend!  Then my wonderful parents are going to get some quality grandparent/ grandchild time in (aka babysitting =) while the Hubs and I go on a date!  Then of course Church on Sunday.  It's going to be awesome! I’m excited! =)

Alrighty, lets get this show on the road!  Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting us link up.

1. Did you have any homecoming traditions?
Ummm…. I can’t really think of any, besides maybe unpacking and laundry, laundry laundry!

2. Do you ask your spouse before spending money?
Anything outside my typical grocery budget, yes.  We are a team, and if we both don’t know what’s going on with the finances then we’re not on the same page.  It’s very important that we communicate about the moola.

3. If you could be famous for something what would it be?
Being the world’s most amazing, non-drug addict, non-alcoholic, non-drama queen actress.  And I’d be on my way to this goal, if only I could act……  If you think about it, this is really a small obstacle.

4. Have you ever seriously thought you were going crazy?
If you’ve read this blog for very long at all, you’ll already know the answer to this question.  The answer is YES.  I walk into a room and forget what I’ve gone in for, I will start a sentence, get distracted and forget what I was talking about, I go to one end of the house, come back and realize I left whatever it is I went in there for.  “Crazy” is the common everyday word used to describe it.  However the more technical word is “losing-my-mind-mommyitis”.  You are extremely susceptible to catching this right after giving birth to your first child.  Be careful to wash your hands incessantly and keep hand sanitizer nearby =).

5. How do you eat your steak? Burger? (as in, well done, medium, still moo-ing...)
Medium well. Mmmmm!  Delicious!  I’m definitely a carnivore.  We actually had burgers for dinner last night.  The Hubs is a grilling genius!  Gotta love that man. =)

Hope you have a great weekend!
Ms. T

Random

Ok, you people know me and how wackadoodle I am and to prove that further here are a few random thoughts that have been running through my head as of late.  (You like that long, run on sentence? ;)

Doggie strollers.  What in the world?!  Isn't the point of taking your dog on a walk for BOTH of you to get exercise?  I need one some one to explain this to me.

I love when Firecracker and O play football and they say things like, "I'm going to make a 'touch my down'!"

A fruit snack wrapper or a cheese wrapper can go through the washer and dryer with little or no damage done to anything.  Gum however causes problems.  Ask me how I know this.....

Ok, explain to me 5th/3rd bank.  These people deal with money and therefore should know math.  They should be 1&2/3rd bank.

The End (for now.... )

Hope you all have a great day!
Ms. T

Both

Ok, I'll admit it.  I talk to myself.  When I'm walking through the grocery store, just as an example, because it is by no means confined to there, I'll say things like, "well, this would be a good deal, but I could get it at ______ and get another 1.00 off this week."  I have even been called on it by Firecracker.  I'll be talking to myself about something or other and he'll say, "what'd you say, Mom?"  Poor kid, thinks I'm talking to him!

I think most of us Mommies can admit that we talk to ourselves some times.  And I've often heard it said that talking to yourself isn't the problem.  The problem comes when you ANSWER yourself.  Well, I don't even think that's when the problem arises.  At least in my highly professional opinion I don't.

I do believe the problem arises when you start saying things like, "I think we can both agree that ________."  I caught myself doing this the other day, and I laughed out loud at myself.  When did I start going absolutely nutty?!  I'm going to trace it back to March 21, 2009 at about 7 pm.  That is the time Firecracker came into this world.  And subsequently I joined the Mommy club and learned the secret handshake.  And suddenly all the things other Mommies do that I thought were silly, became totally sane and understandable.

Hope you all have a great day!
Ms. T
