5 Question Friday!

The weekend is here!  Actually, I have been dreading this weekend.  The Hubs has a very busy weekend ahead and so I will hardly get to see him :(.  Oh well, it's only one weekend out of our married life.  We'll make up for it ;).

Anyway, enough with my whining and on with the fun!  Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting us link up!

1.  What giveaway would you like to do on your blog?
I would love to be able to give away one million dollars of my sixty-four gagillion dollar lottery winnings.  I’ll let you know when I win. (P.s. I don’t play…. That might make it take just a smidge longer…. ;)

2.  If you had to choose between natural artistic ability and natural athletic ability, which would it be?
I’m going with artistic ability, because there comes a point in time when your body won’t do athletics anymore (I’m pretty sure my body is there, or close!).  Either is amazing though.

3.  Do you ditch the coat the minute it becomes "spring" or are you a holdout for more cool temps?
This is a hard one, because where I live there really isn’t “spring”.  We have 2 temperatures, hot and cold (and our cold isn’t cold to some people).  Right now we’ve moved out of cold and right into hot.  So definitely no coat.

4.  What would you do if you won the mega millions lotto of 1/2 billion dollars?
I’ve already committed to giving away one million of it on my blog.  The rest I have big plans for.  The Hubs and I have a dream of buying a big plot of land and making our own subdivision on it.  We would build houses only for people we trust and then we wouldn’t have to worry about Firecracker or Sweet pea going out to play outside.  And they could go down the street and play with their cousins, or to Gram and Papa’s house or Grandpop’s house.  Oh to be able to do this!  It’s a wonderful dream.

5.  You are at a hotel by yourself...what do you do?
I would do what any mother of small children would do, SLEEP.  I would sleep as long as my body would let me.  Then I would go crazy and take a long shower without worrying about whether or not the kids are up and getting into anything.  Wild and crazy plans huh? ;)
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Story of A Swing Set

Once upon a time there was a swing set that was on clearance after Christmas.  A wonderful Hubs found out about this find (through a fantastic sister in law) and plopped down the cashola to make a small boy very happy on his birthday.

Fast forward about 3 months and it was time for this swing set to make it's way out of the attic and to be set up in the back yard for the small boy's enjoyment.  A strong, beautiful woman (hint hint that's me! =) climbed up into the attic to help the wonderful Hubs get the swing set (still in it's box) out.  Then the wonderful Hubs hauled the awkward box into the backyard, spread out all the pieces and put the whole thing together.

The small boy was whisked away after nap time by the strong, beautiful woman to the fantastic sister in law's house to play so the surprise wasn't ruined.  The wonderful Hubs sent a text when the job was completed and the small boy and his strong, beautiful mommy came home to see the wonderful surprise that awaited them.

The small boy was EXTATIC and can't wait to play on the swing set again.

Hope you all have a great day!!

Chocolate Hunter

Sweet pea is definitely her Mama's daughter!  Yesterday I was eating a chocolate cupcake while holding her and she lunged for it.  I was too quick for her though (a life time of protecting chocolate from others will do that ;).  While I was pulling the rest of the wrapper off though she grabbed it and started gnawing on the crumbs inside of it.  I had to wrestle it out of her grasp.  My Mom and I laughed at how Sweet pea is not going to have to be coerced into eating her 1 year birthday cake.

After a little while, I put Sweet pea on the floor so I could do some cleaning.  Unbenounced to me I had spilled some crumbs from the cupcake onto the floor.  Guess who found them and started shoveling them into her mouth as quickly as she could?  I guess she knew that Mama would be cleaning them up as soon as I saw them! Hahaha!  My sweet baby girl is addicted to chocolate already!  No doubt she is my girl.  I Love her to bits.

Hope you all have a great day =)

Date Night

Last Friday night the Hubs and I went out on a date night!  We hadn't been able to have one in far too long.  One reason or another you know how it goes.

Well, our date night consisted of going to the eye doctor to get my new glasses prescription, waiting for 15 minutes at Olive Garden for them to seat us.  They apparently forgot about us or something so we left and ate at Arby's.  Such high class dining ;).  After which we went and watched "This Means War" at the theater.

All this was made possible because my sweet parents baby sat my sweet little munchkins.  Thanks again, Gram and Papa!!! =)

Hope you all have a great day!

Firecracker's "Birthday Party"

Maybe "birthday party" is too strong a term considering the only guests were family.  But it was still fun, and I still had to get my house reasonably clean, so it still counts =).

The Firecracker was so excited about having "his friends" (aka his cousins) come to his house!  He was also super psyched about having cupcakes!  Who could blame him there?  Who isn't a fan of cupcakes?!

The event went spectacularly.  We ate,  talked, let the kids play on the new swing set (more on that in another post) and the Firecracker got to open presents.  All in all it was a success.  Low key, yes, but a success none the less =).

Hope you all have a great day!

5 Question Friday!

Happy Friday!!  It's gonna be a fun weekend for sure!  Let's dive right in shall we?  Thanks again to Mama M. for letting us link up.

1.  If you were free to just hop in the car and drive, where would you go? Or, if you could hop a plane and go anywhere, where?
I would hop on a plane and head to Maine to meet my newest nephew.  He was just born 2 days ago and man am I jonesing to get my hands on him!  I hate that I live so far away =(.

2.  What's your most recently read favorite book?
I’m going to sound like a wagon jumper oner, but I’m in love with the Hunger Games!  The trilogy is amazing!  Although the last book was slightly disappointing, not in a terribly bad way, it just didn’t go exactly how I’d planned it all out in my mind…. Oh well, it was still a fabulous read!  And it wasn’t smutty or anything, because it was originally intended for young teens.  So nice not to have to read smut in order to get a good story!

3.  What's your favorite Spring Break memory?
Right off the top of my head, I’d say when I was a teenager and my friends and I would pack up and head to the beach by ourselves.  It made us feel so free to be able to go to the beach with just our gang no parent figures around.  It’s the small things ;).
Oh I just thought of another one!  I forgot this happened on Spring Break.  My friend, Ms. A., and I went to Disney (LOVE IT!) and had a fantastic time!  We did crazy things like walking up to total strangers and asking them if they remembered us, because they looked familiar. The best one was when we did that to a Japanese man who apparently didn't speak any English!  Hahaha! We laughed ALOT...  We did all 4 parks, and had multiple guys hit on us.  I think it was mostly Ms. A, but it was great =).  It was an awesome vacation and I'll never forget it.... Even though I might forget that I did it on Spring Break! Whoops!

4.  What do you put in your child's Easter basket? Or, for those w/o kids, what was put in your childhood basket?
I don’t put a ton of stuff in Firecracker’s Easter basket.  A small toy, a book and maybe if he’s lucky he’ll get a candy. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.  PLUS, Easter isn’t about getting, it’s about celebrating Christ’s resurrection.

5.  Do you get a summer haircut?
Yes,  when I originally read this question I thought “no”, but when I started thinking about it the answer is really yes.  Usually I decide to “grow my hair out”, but then it gets annoying and I go in and chop it off, this typically comes around about summertime.  So the answer is yes!

The Firecracker’s birthday was Wednesday so we’re having his “party” (just family) on Saturday!  How exciting =).

Hope you all have a great day!

Firecracker's Birthday

I honestly can't believe it.  3 years ago today my world changed forever for the better.  Firecracker made quite the entrance into this world and has been on the go ever since.

He is sweet, silly, stubborn, playful, constantly moving, thoughtful, attentive and kind.  I love him so much and I'm so greatful that God blessed the Hubs and I with this little man.

Happy Birthday, Firecracker!  Mommy loves you more than you will ever know!

Hope you all have a wonderful Firecracker's birthday!

Excitement!!!!!

Today is an exciting day, my friends.  Today my Mama and Daddy are moving close to me!  About 6 or 7 years ago my parents moved away from the area where I grew up.  It made me very sad, because I was still here.  The Hubs and I would visit them and dream about living close to them again someday.  Never did we imagine that they would be moving back.

Despite our doubts, today they are moving back!!!  You see, even the Hubs loves them.  They aren't your typical "in laws".  They are sweet, kind, caring and helpful, plus they love him more than they do me.... I'm pretty sure!  Trust me, this is something the Hubs doesn't let me live down.

This is the excitement around our house =).

Hope you all have a great day!

Good Weekend and Counting Down

This weekend was great.  Friday, We spent time with good friends and their munchkins.  We cooked out, played and chased kiddos.  It was fun.

Saturday, we celebrated my sweet nephew's 1st birthday!  He's such a cutie pie and sweet heart.  We spent time hanging out with my Brother in law and Sister in law and some friends at his party.

Sunday, we spent the day in church.  It's always a blessing to spend time in God's house.

Because of the busy weekend, my kiddos slept in this morning!  Talk about a wonderful treat for Mama =). Yippee!!

I have a couple of count downs.  Tomorrow, yes tomorrow my Mama and Daddy are moving back into my neck of the woods!!!!!!  I'm sooooooooo excited to have them near me again!  That's count down number one.  That's pretty much down to hours.  Then count down number two is that I only have today and tomorrow to have a 2 year old. =(  Firecracker is growing up so fast.  I can't believe that Wednesday he will be 3.  It seems like just yesterday we brought him home from the hospital.

Hope you all have a great day!

5 Question Friday!

Good morning and happy Friday!  We have a busy, fun weekend ahead =).  A super fun family is coming over to hang out and a very special little man's birthday party.  Bring on the weekend!

Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting us link up =). And now on with the show!

1. Will you run to the store or to pick up a kid looking a mess?

Walmart?  Yes.  I figure as long as I am covered and my hair is brushed I’ll be more modest than ½ of the other people there.  (Wow, that sounds really judgmental reading that in print.  Sorry, that wasn’t really how I meant it.)  Other stores, I try to at least look half way presentable.

2. Do you finish a book if it's boring or you don't like it?

No.  Once upon a time I would, but now a days I have to carve out reading time, and if I am going to make time to read it, I’m going to read something I like!

3. Beach or mountain vacations?

Yes, please!  I would love either!  The beach is so calming and there is just something about the smell of the salt air and the breeze that is so wonderful, refreshing and “wisk your cares away” wonderful.  However, the mountains are gorgeous, the air is crisp, clean and cool.  In short, vacations are fabulous and I’ll take what I can get =).

4. What thing/event says "winter will end and spring is right around the corner" to you?

Warm weather.  Warm weather is very common in my neck of the woods so once the 80s start coming around consistently I know that spring / summer is back, and once again I have used up my winter to consume too many yummy treats, and not getting bathing suit season ready….. whoops!

5. Would you prefer couples or family vacation?
Once again, yes please!  It really doesn’t matter to me.  I love to be alone with my hubby (you know those 4.7 seconds every day we spend alone… those are great ;).  Alone time is great!  However, I love my babies so a vacation all together would be fabulous too.  Either way I’d be happy with a vaca =).
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!  See ya Monday!

Mentally and Emotionally Exhausted

A few days ago a dear friend of our family passed away.  We were saddened by his passing, and we immediately started planning on attending the funeral, which we found out later was today at 2:30pm.  We made all the necessary arrangements and were all set for it.

Then, last night I got a message from my Mother that said that my "adopted grandmother" isn't expected to live much longer.  Thankfully, because the Hubs and I had already made arrangements to be attending the funeral today he was home and able to watch the kids for me this morning.  So I went down to the hospital and spent some time with my adopted grandmother.  I told her stories about Firecracker and Sweet pea and she told me stories about me when I was little.  It was a precious, precious time.  Time that I will never regret.  When I had to leave I balled like a baby.  I knew that maybe the last time I ever get to hold her hand and hug her.  (even while I'm writing this I'm crying =(.

I am going to miss her terribly.  She is one of my greatest prayer warriors.  She is one of those women that you can tell anything to and know that she will not judge you.  She is full of godly wisdom and advice.  This world will be a much harsher place with out her.

I left the hospital, and drove to the funeral.  I hugged on friends that I haven't seen in far too long.  I shed more tears for a family that is now left without a husband, father and grandfather.

I am home now and completely wiped out.  I hope that it is a very, very, very long time before I have to do anything like this ever again.

Things I Love

There are somethings in my life that are small, but they make me oh so happy.  I just thought I'd share a few of them with you today. (In no particular order)

1. Watching Firecracker learn new things.  It makes this Mama's heart so proud.

2.  Nap time.  Oh nap time, how I love thee!  Please never, ever, ever disappear.

3.  Couponing at Publix.  I love to coupon, and Publix has such coupon friendly cashiers (most of the time) the two together are blissful =)

4.  Reynold's wrap slow cooker liners.  These have saved me so much time cleaning up.  Love them!

5.  Good ol' girl movies.  I love the mushy, gushy, lovie, dovie movies.

6.  DVR.  The Hubs swears this device is a savior for our marriage, because we don't have to worry about our shows/ sports being on at the same time.  The DVR records one and then we can watch it later.  LOVE IT!

These are just a few of the things that I love.  This is by no means a comprehensive list.  And I put mostly superfluous stuff on here.  Don't be upset at me that I didn't put things like "Jesus, Church, Family, Friends etc".  We all know I love those things more than life.  This is just a "stuff you might not know that I love" list.

Hope you all have a great day!

Sweet pea

I have long desired to try my hand at photography.  I haven't for several reasons (1. I'm a chicken and failure scares me.  I'd rather not try than to fail.  I know that's not the way you're supposed to go about life, but that's my thought process.  2. Photography equipment can be very expensive. etc).  Anyway, for Christmas the Hubs bought me a nice, new-to-me camera.

So here are my attempts at making good use of my Christmas present and taking Sweet pea's 9 month shots.  I have a few more that I want to try, but she was over having her picture done by the end of it.  We decided to give her a break and try again another day.

These are the fruits of my labors.  It doesn't hurt that I had an adorable subject ;).

I know I'm far from a professional, but I think my subject made up for my inadequacies ;).

I hope you all have a great day!

Boys

Firecracker is such a boy.  I tell you, he does things that make me wonder "who taught him that?!"

Today the Hubs had taken Firecracker outside to play.  They seemed to be having a fine time.  When I went out to call them in for dinner, Firecracker had his pockets FULL.  What was in them you ask.  Well, when he started emptying them out I discovered they were completely filled with rocks!  Hahahaha!  What would a little boy need with that many rocks?  I don't know.  Dinner time apparently interrupted his plans.  I guess this will teach me to make sure to check pockets when I do the laundry!

Hope you have a great day!

Have I Ever Lied To You?!

Why oh why is it that Firecracker doesn't seem to believe me when I say, "son, if you do ______,  you will be in trouble."?  He then proceeds to do whatever it is that I just told him not to do.  Then, the Pièce de résistance comes when he looks at me like I have two heads when I carry out the punishment.

It's almost like we've never had this cycle happen ever before, and yet WE HAVE!  Daily actually...  Why oh why doesn't he believe me and just not do whatever it is?  It really would make both of our lives easier.  And yet we continue this oh so fun cycle (please note that last statement was dripping with sarcasm.  I wish there was a sarcastic font...).  Oh the joys of parenthood... (again insert sarcastic font here).

Hope you have a great day!

Ms. T

P.s. the Hubs just informed me that I need to get used to this, because it will be like this until he's about 30 when he realizes we did know what we were talking about.  Wow, he knows how to sweet talk me doesn't he?!

5 Question Friday!

It's the weekend!  No birthday parties for us this weekend!  Which seems pretty remarkable considering every other weekend this month we have one =).  Lots of birthday loving this month for sure!  I'm thinking date night for the Hubs and I on Saturday night.  WHOO HOOO!

Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting us link up to the fun!  And now on with the show:

1. Are you looking forward to the time change this weekend?

NOOOOOOOOO!  I despise time change.  I did not always feel this way, but once I became a Mama my feelings about time change went south.  Babies and toddlers do not understand that the time is changing.  They do not understand that you get an hour more or less sleep.  They just wake up when they normally would.  EVEN when you attempt to slowly acclimate them into it slowly.  Time change= pure evil in this house.

2. Are you getting the new iPad/would you want a iPad?

Nope, I’m not all about the newest gadgets.  I’m an old school girl.  I mean, come on I still have a “dumb phone”.   I’m actually starting to consider getting a kindle.  I know that I’m like 3 years behind, but that’s how I roll.

3. If money was not a problem, what is the one thing you would splurge on?

A bigger house.  Our house is not tiny, but it seems to have shrunk considerably since having two babies.  It’s a lovely little house, but I yearn for more closet space.

4. How did you and the Mr. (or Mrs.) meet?

Well, the Hubs and I have known each other since we were both very young.  Our families have been friends for ages.  We never thought of each other as anything more than family friends, until I needed a new car (long story) and all of my family had moved away and I had never purchased a car before.  So I called on my old, car loving, buddy. After not having seen each other for about a year we went out to dinner.  Bada bing, bada boom about 11 months later we were hitched =).  (P.s. I got a nice car that we still own and Hubs drives to work every day.)

5. Summer is right around the corner. Bikini or one-piece?
I’m a modest kinda gal.  I despise showing off my stomach yucko!  Therefore, I have a tankini, but it’s one of those that the top piece covers all the way down to the top of the bottom piece.  So I guess it really counts as a one-piece.
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!  I plan to =)

There Are Some Things Even Mickey Mouse Can't Fix

The other day I was cooking and Firecracker was in the kitchen with me talking and playing.  While I had my back turned he decided to pick up a plate.  The plate slipped from his hands and shattered on the floor.

Once I heard the noise, instantly I picked him up and ushered him to the living room doorway off of the kitchen.  I knew he would want to know what I was doing, so this was the safest place for him to be.

Firecracker felt so bad about breaking the plate.  He kept saying, "oh no, Mom, it broke!"  again and again.  I reassured him that it was ok, but that Mommy had to pick up all the broken pieces and put them in the garbage can so no one would get hurt.  After I stated this he looked at me and said, "Mom, Toodles can help us fix it!" and then he proceeded to call, "Oooooh Tooooodddlllles!".  (if you have ever watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse you know the fluxuation of his voice while he was saying this.  If you've never watched it, basically at least 3 times in every episode Toodles is called upon to help Mickey and friends fix some sort of problem.)

I must say that made me smile =).  My sweet, innocent little boy wanted so badly to fix what he'd broken.  He was even willing to call the "helper" that can fix just about anything!

Hope you all have a great day!

More Mysteries

This is just another list of things that my little mind can't seem to wrap around.

1. Why can't side walk chalk (and lots of other things too) fit back into the container once you take it out?

2.  No matter how clean I think my floor is how is it my daughter can always find something to put in her mouth?

3.  Have you ever noticed that some days you can walk into your closet and pick out an outfit in 3 seconds flat.  Then other days you walk in and look around and think where in the world did I get these clothes?  None of this looks good on me. Why did I buy that dress?  I've only worn it once and didn't like it then.  On these days it takes a solid 30 minutes or more to get dressed.  Why is that?

A few more random thoughts floating around in my brain today.  Just thought you'd like to ponder them with me ;).

Hope you have a great day!

Creep Out

Our garbage can fills up quite quickly.  Most of the time the Hubs does the manly job of taking it out.  Every once in a while though he is unavailable either because of work or he's gone or something, so the job falls to me.  For some reason I don't realize that it needs to be taken out until it's dark outside.  Probably because while the sun is up so are my children and they take alot more attention than an inanimate object no matter how full.

Now mind you I'm not afraid of the dark, but our yard has been known to be home to snakes during the night time hours and the side of the house that has the outside cans has no light.  Therefore, I'm always afraid that I'm going to step on a snake or scare one and it will bite me or something.

That's the background for the story, now onto the main attraction.  Once again the sun had gone down, the Hubs was gone and the trash can was over flowing.  So I decided it was time to take it out.  I gathered up the trash and got out to the dark side of the house, while I was swinging the bag of garbage into the outside bin something brushed against my leg!  I jumped, screamed (because I'm so calm, cool and collected, you know. HAHAHA!) and nearly came out of my skin!  When I looked down what was there?  A frog.  He had decided to push off of me while trying to jump onto a piece of fencing.  That silly little frog nearly caused me to have a heart attack!

Needless to say my heart was racing and I was creeped out big time.  I wish no ill will towards that harmless froggy.  I simply ask that he not touch me while I'm already on edge, because he creeped me out majorly!

And now you all know I'm a wimp that's scared of the dark and snakes.  Hahahaha!

Hope you all have a great day!

A Funeral and A Birthday Party

This weekend was a mixed bag.  A few weeks ago, we had been invited to a friend's baby's 1st birthday party.  We were excited for the little man's 1st birthday and Firecracker loves birthday parties.  Early last week though a long time friend of my family passed away and his funeral was the same day and time as the party.

The Hubs and I decided in order to keep the commitment we had already made to the party, and to be able to pay our respects we would divide and conquer.  The Hubs and Firecracker attended the party and Sweet pea and myself attended the funeral.

Let's just say the weekend held quite the range of emotions.  The Firecracker and the Hubs had a great time at the party =).  Which I'm glad for.  And our family friend was honored and the sheer amount of people in attendace showed how respected and loved he was in our community.  This coming weekend will be much more low key, which this Mamma is looking forward to! =)

5 Question Friday!

Good Morning, friends!  Once again it's Friday!  Yippee!!  Here we go with 5 question Friday =).  Thanks again to Mama. M. for letting us link up!

1. Where is your favorite vacation spot and why?

On a cruise ship.  I love the fact that out there you are waited on hand and foot, you can eat all you want and no one judges, because they’re doing the same thing, and there is no cell phone service for the Hub’s work to pester him!!!  (the last one is probably my favorite).

2. What is your biggest guilty pleasure?

When Firecracker is sleeping at nap time and it’s just Sweet pea and I, I love to laze around on the couch and watch drama filled shows that I couldn’t watch when the Hubs is home, because he hate, hate, hates dramaish shows.

3. What is your favorite fashion trend right now? Or, in the past?

I guess it would be big purses?  I don’t really follow fashion much, because often I feel too guilty buying clothes for me when that moola could go for diapers, or whatever else the kiddos need.  I have a gigantic purse and love love love it, so I guess that’s what I like fashion wise?

4. What are your spring break plans?

Since my kids aren’t in school yet spring break is just another regular week for us.  We will hang out, play in the back yard and maybe if I’m feeling a little crazy we will hang out with O and his Mommy and go to the beach for a day.  We’ll see ;)

5. What baby names do you hate?
Anything that sounds ridiculous.  I can’t stand it when people name their kids stupid things and then get upset when people can’t pronounce them.  Those poor children are going to have to go through life explaining their name to everyone they meet.  That’s cruel don’t you think?  And now I will give you an extreme example of such cruelty (p.s. this actually happened in the school district that my Mom worked in): A little girl came into class and her name was La-a.  The teacher pronounced this girl’s name as “Laya”.  The Mother came in incensed that the teacher would pronounce the girl’s name that way.  She railed on the teacher for sometime telling her, “her name is Ladasha!  The dash don’t be silent!”  To me this is RIDICULOUS!!!  Not to mention cruel.  And now I will climb down from my soap box and wish you all a fabulous Friday!
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Birthday Party!

Firecracker's friend, O's, birthday party was last Saturday. The Firecracker was super psyched about going to the party.  He talked about it for days.  And then Sunday morning when he woke up he asked to go back to O's party. =)  I guess the party lived up to all expectations.

Here are a few pictures of the fun we had at O's fabulous party.

Bean bag toss

All the fun stuff to do and these silly boys still want to play cars ;)

Bounce House!!!!

I don't think I'm ready for O to be 3, because that mean's Firecracker will be 3 in less than a month!  It's so hard for me to believe it.  I guess I'm in denial.

Have a great day!
