Tea

The Hubs and I are slightly addicted to sweet tea.  The two of us go through at least one gallon every day.  I know, it's a sickness.  Anyway, to avoid having to make tea Every. Stinkin'. Day. I have taken to making several gallons at once.  I started out making 2 gallons at a time, but that meant I had to make tea every other day.  So I've kept increasing how much I make.

The other night I made 9, yes, 9, gallons of tea! That should last us a week.  I think, I'll have to stop upping the amount, because I have no idea where else I'd put it... Haha!  So, yeah, we're addicts...

Have a great day!

Unthankfulness

For some time the Hubs and I have been trying to teach our kiddos to be thankful and content with what they have.  This is an extremely hard lesson to teach and learn, because if you think about it have any of us really learned to be completely content?

The other day, Firecracker had been complaining and whining because he didn't have toys that other kids had.  This made the second or third day in a row that he had shown this kind of attitude.  So I decided I would show him some pictures online of kids in Africa that have nothing.

Firecracker sat with me and I showed him pictures of boys and girls that had to drink filthy water.  Some that had the bare minimum of clothing, etc.  One of the sites had a collage of pictures.  While we were perusing it we stumbled across one little African boy that was holding a play bow and arrow set.

What was Firecracker's reaction? You ask.  Well, it went something like this, "Mommy, why does that boy have a bow and arrow?  I don't have a bow and arrow."

The Hubs was sitting behind Firecracker and when I looked at him he was barely able to keep from laughing out loud.  It took me a moment to compose myself, but then I replied with, "that is the ONLY toy that little boy has.  Would you like me to take away all of your other toys and get you just one bow and arrow?"  Of course Firecracker didn't want that.

GAH!!  What am I going to do with these munches?  Lord, give me strength and wisdom for this crazy business called parenting!

Have a great day!

Happy Birthday, Blog!

3 years ago tomorrow, my friend, Ms. L, and I started this blog.  Ms. L has long since stepped back from writing on the blog, but she still can be inspiration for it from time to time.

Anyway, to those of you that have been reading my ramblings for 3 years, God bless you.  And, you probably need to have your head checked! Hahaha!  For real, thanks for sticking with this crazy lady =).

Have a great day!
Ms. T

(I know I should do this on the blog's actual birthday, but that is a Saturday, and I don't write on Saturdays)

Chocolate

Have you ever had the good old fashioned NEED for chocolate? You know when you can't find any so you end up eating a little bit of everything else in the house hoping something will satisfy your everloving craving?

And then you have a moment where the Heavens open and Angels sing when you remember that your Hubs has chocolate stashed away to give to his AWANA kids (AWANA is a kids program we do at our church).  And you go to the stash, dig out the chocolate, use scissors to open the pack, because dang it it's still new.  He's totally gonna know, but in that moment you don't care, because you NEED chocolate.  And then you eat 2 Reese's cups and all is right with the world, except now you've got an upset stomach, because the chocolate isn't playing well with the cheese and crackers and tortilla chips you ate trying to satisfy the chocolate craving.

You've never experienced that huh?  I guess it's just me....

Hope you have a great day!

Ms. T

Own/ Disown

I have people in my family, that are not related by blood, nor are they married to an actual sibling.  However, we call them family.  Their kids call me Aunt and my kids call them Aunt/ Uncle (depending on the gender obviously :).

I have had someone tell me that they're not really my family.  We can be close, but we cannot/ should not refer to them as actual family.  I say BULL CRAP!!!  I have and will always refer to them as family.  If some families can "disown" their children for one reason or another, then I can "own" my own family.

So, never again tell me those whom I call family aren't my family.  Because THEY ARE! (impassioned rant over)

Have a great day!

Oversharer

I am a habitual oversharer.  I'm that person that calls the Doctor's office to schedule an appointment and ends up telling the receptionist my whole life story, because she needs to know that to book my appointment, right?

The other day, I tried to call my friend.  I dialed her cell number from memory (a rarity!).  She didn't answer, so I opened up my contacts and called her.  Well, her husband answered and told me that he had her phone, because he had lost his.  I had accidentally called her cell phone again instead of her house.  Instead of apologizing and hanging up, I proceeded to tell her husband the whole story of why I called her phone twice...

Yeah, see, oversharer.  I can't help it I've always been this way. Recently, (in the past couple of years) I've been trying to reign it in.  I've been trying to tell people less, sometimes I succeed, but mostly I end up talking waaayyy too much.

Have a great day!
