Melted

Firecracker had a rough behavioral week last week.  He was constantly in trouble.  Most parents understand when I say, "he was testing his boundaries."  He wanted to make sure that when I said not to do something I would follow through.  These periods are very trying for everyone involved.  Anywho, this is the setting for this story.

One day during this trial period,  Firecracker turned to me and said, "I love you Fweetheart."

Oh my goodness!  I melted right on the spot!  It's moments like this that make parenting worth it, even when the kiddos are being rotten the rest of the time! ;)

No words can truly express how much I love that little boy.  Firecracker is truly a joy.

5 Question Friday

Good morning, Friends.  It’s Friday!  I’m excited, because today the Hubs and I are going to haul our little ones to the beach and I’m going to attempt some pictures.  I’ve never done that type of setting, and I’d like to try it out.  I’ll post pictures eventually.

Well, on with the 5 question fun!  Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting us link up.

1. If you had c-section do you wish you would have had vaginal? Or vice versa?
      I had my babies the natural way.  And no, I don’t wish I had a c- section.  I have friends that have had both natural births and c-sections and they all swear to me that natural is better.  I wouldn’t know, because I never had a c-section, but I’m glad I was able to have my babies naturally.

2. If vaginal did you go drug free?
     HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! No! I was all, “give me all the drugs I can have!!”  I had no grand dilusions of being able to make it through drug free.  I know women that have given birth drug free and I admire them.  However, from the minute I found out I was prego I knew I wouldn’t be one of those women!

3. Did you have any complications?
     With Firecracker I had complications during delivery.  I will spare you all the gorey details, but I nearly died.  But thanks to a wonderful Midwife and Doctor Firecracker and I both pulled through. 

     With Sweet Pea there were no complications at birth.  She was an easy one (comparatively).  I even told the Hubs after she was born, “that’s the normal way for child birth, no wonder people are willing to have more than one!”  (Sweet Pea was a planned pregnancy, but it took me a LONG time to consent to having a second)

4. Who was in the delivery room with you?
     With Firecracker, my whole family came in the delivery room, until it was time to start pushing.  For real, and my Daddy was watching the mini series Band of Brothers (it's about a platoon in WWII).  Yeah, not exactly birthing material.  

     Once it came time for pushing we kicked everyone out except, my Midwife, who I consider part of the family.  I seriously love her.  When I was close to giving birth to Sweet Pea she gave me her phone number and told me to use it whenever I wanted.  And, because she knew I had complications with Firecracker, she called me 3 or 4 times between visits during the week before I gave birth just to check on me.  She’s the sweetest!  My Mama, and the Hubs. And once things started to go south while giving birth to Firecracker, the Doc and about 10 nurses (or so the Hubs tells me, I knew it was a lot, but I had lost a lot of blood and barely remember the end of it) That's it.

5. Did you document your labor and delivery? (Photos, videos, etc.)

     No.  We did take pictures afterwards, which I looked a mess in, but during?  Nope.  I saw no reason for that.  Kudos to those that chose to do that, but it’s not my style.  I don’t need my whoo ha saved forever in photo form, thankyouverymuch!

Sad

The Hubs and I have decided not to have any more babies.  There are many considerations involved in this decision.  Not the least of which is all the things I've been struggling with from the depression (that coincidentally pregnancy brought on and made nearly unbearable).  

Most of the time I am fine with this decision.  I have to be.  But today I'm sad.  I really would like more children, but it isn't meant to be for us.  It's one more thing depression has robbed from me.  It makes me upset to see people that are obviously unfit parents that have children.  Because (don't take this as bragging) we are darn good parents!  I want to run over and scoop up those babies that are being abused or neglected and take them home with me.  But that's not the way it works.

I try most of the time not to be jealous of other people that don't suffer from depression, because as a wise friend told me, "everyone has bad stuff happen to them.  Some have cancer, some loose their parents, or their children."  I would rather have depression than other terrible things that could have been dealt to me.  

Sorry to put a damper on anyone's day.

My Little Helpers

The other day I decided to make cupcakes.  Of course I had 2 willing little helpers ;).  

 You can see how important they were to the baking process ;).  Gotta love my little ones!

How to Make Foaming Hand Soap

I saw this on a few internet sites, I couldn't tell you which ones if I tried.  Sorry.  And I decided I wanted to try it.  We go through so much soap!  I'm not complaining, because I'd rather my family wash their hands whenever they think they need to and then some.  However, it makes the soap disappear super fast.  I'm not a bar soap lover.  I'd much prefer liquid.  So I jumped at the chance to make my liquid soap last longer.  And it works so well!!!  

This is my recipe.  You're gonna wanna slap your neighbor it's so simple:

1. You need an empty foamy soap dispenser.  Yes, it has to be the foamy kind other wise this doesn't work.

2. You'll need some sort of liquid soap.  I chose Dawn, because it was on sale recently and I got a slammin' deal. 

3.  Fill the soap dispenser about 1/5th to 1/4th with the soap.

4.  Fill the rest of the bottle with water. Then shake, shake, shake.  Shake, shake, shake, shake your bottle!  (did you sing that to the tune of shake your booty?  If not you are now! You're welcome)

5.  Tada!  Foamy hand soap!  

  See?!  Didn't I tell you it was easy?!  Ok, now go visit your neighbor, or don't.  I don't want anyone blaming me for their arrest, because they assaulted their neighbor.....  Ok, so yeah, let's go with the don't slap your neighbor thing.... Yep, less trouble for everyone.

Torture

If you have spent any time around children at all, or if you ever were a child, you know what this is:

This is what is referred to in our house as a "snot sucker".  I know, classy right?  Other less classy people call it a "bulb syringe", but that doesn't really tell you what the heck it's for.  This seemingly harmless little device sends children into hiding.  When they see it coming they run, hide, beg and scream.  It doesn't look that bad does it? 

For months this little guy hides in a drawer and all is right with the world.  And then the dreaded allergy season hits and out he comes and the screaming begins.  

Thankfully, Firecracker knows how to blow his nose now.  It's just Sweet Pea that makes the neighbors think you're murdering her when we need to use it. =(  Maybe she'll figure the nose blow out soon too.  We can hope.

5 Question Friday

Good Morning, Friends!
It's Friday again!  It seems to have snuck up on me.  Maybe it has something to do with the sugar induced comas?  =)

Let's get on with the 5 question fun!  Once again thanks to Mama M.  

1. What terrifies you the most?
     The thought of any of my family dying terrifies me.  I HATE even the thought of it.  Can we please move on to something more fun please?


2. Favorite fall/winter drink? 
   Ahhh much better, thank you.  I love love love hot cocoa.  'Round here we only get about 2 months where it's cold enough outside to drink hot cocoa so I drink lots of it while I can. =)

3. Do you and your spouse have the same political views?
    Let's just say that the Hub's is right when it comes to politics.  Aka he agrees with me ;).

4. What was the last book you read? Was it any good?
     I read a book called 32 Miracles.  It was a good one.  The book was a compilation of real life stories.  I love reading about GOOD things happening to people.

5. Do you look forward to the snow each winter? Why or why not?
    Hmmm.... that's a hard one.  Do I look forward to driving in precarious conditions?  Do I enjoy finding patches of black ice the hard way and ending up in a ditch?  Do I enjoy having to bundle into 32 layers in order to leave my house?  Nope!  Where we live we don't get snow very often. Praise Jesus!!  We do get lots of rain, but you don't have to shovel rain, so I'm cool with that.
