You remember that for mother's day my wonderful Hubs bought me a Kindle Fire? No? You were going on with your life and had let that small detail of my life slip right out of your mind?! How dare you! haha!
Anyway, I have become severely addicted to this. I've always enjoyed reading, but I've never had so many books at my finger tips. I usually read about 4 or 5 books a year (I know that's totally slackerish, but I'm bad about getting to the library, and I hate spending moola on something I'm going to be done with in a week or less.). Well, the Kindle has changed all that! In 14 days I've read 7 books!
I even have to force myself to take hiatuses from reading so often so I can clean and do laundry etc. (Most of the time, I don't read while the kiddos are up.... Unless the Hubs is home and the book is particularly addicting. Then I've been known to hide in our room for a little bit so I can read the next chapter ;).
Let's just say the Kindle is one of the BEST gifts I've ever gotten! The Hubs is so awesome. Gotta love him!
Hope you all have a great day!

A Lapse in Judgement
Ok, this story requires a little "back story" first. Firecracker still gets rewarded with "candy" when he goes # 2 on the potty (I'm sorry if this is more information than you want to know, but I promise it's all relevant to the story!). Only the candy has been switched from M&Ms to his gummy vitamins. And for some reason he almost always ends up needing to be rewarded right before nap time- if you get my drift. Ok, uncomfortable back story is done and you can all take a sigh of relief.
Normally when he gets his "candy" I make sure he's chewed it up and swallowed it before he lays down for his nap. Well, the other day I was busy and distracted so I forgot to take this extra step. I guess I just assumed he would be fine with it.
After about 10 minutes of him being in his bed, I heard him crying and calling for me. I raced in there only to find that he had taken his gummy out of his mouth and stuffed it into a part of his toy car that folds up..... (p.s. I may be a softie of a Mama, but he is allowed to bring one toy to bed with him, almost always) You can imagine how thrilled I was about this. (heavily sarcastic tone intended here)
I did not over react (which I was proud of myself for =). I took the car away and told him he couldn't have a toy since now this one was all messed up. I stepped outside of the room and laughed! Oh goodness! The things little people come up with! Hahahaha! The Hubs was able to clean out the gummy from the car using a small screw driver, and the car is no worse for the wear.
Let's just say, I will not be forgetting to make him swallow his gummy before he lays down for nap for a long time!!!
Hope you have a great day!

All the Birthday Parties...
In the past 3 months we have attended at least 8 birthday parties. (I think there might have been one or two more, but I'm not certain). That's a lot of times buying gifts, eating cake and singing "Happy Birthday".
We love all the people whos parties we have attended. I'm starting to see all the parties starting to rub off on Firecracker though. He keeps playing birthday party. He will bring me a box filled with things and sing "Happy Birthday" to me (which he knows almost all the words to by now ;), and encourage me to open his "gift" to me. Then once I open it he says, "you like it?" =). He's such a sweet heart!
It just shows that even when you aren't trying to teach your child something, they're picking up on what's going on around them.
I hope you all have a great day!

5 Question Friday!!!!
This week has flown right by! Oh my goodness where does the time go? Not that I’m complaining it’s the weekend. Love the extra family time that the weekend brings my way! ;) Alrighty on with the 5 question Friday fun! Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting me link up!
1. Are you a napper?
Yes, I love to nap. I don’t do it much, but Sunday afternoons are almost always a napping occasion.
2. What was your favorite subject in school? Most hated?
My favorite subject in school was history. It was like a story to me, and I crave story lines. My most hated subject was science. I despised it. I would have rather stuck pencils in my eyes than done science, I would rather have slid down a banister of razor blades than done science, I would have rather cut off my own head and used it as a punch bowl than done science. In short, it was a miracle that I passed Physical Science I and II, and Chemistry. Let’s just say there’s a reason I’m not in a lab somewhere doing CSI type stuff….. Trust me, Dude, if I were in that lab I'd end up sending little old ladies to jail for something a huge, body-building man did. I can admit where my weakness lies so I'm steering clear of that path. YOU'RE WELCOME! And you can tell your Grandmas to thank me to, since now, they're not going to jail. hahahaha! ;)
3. What one thing are you determined to do this summer
Get my kids to the pool at least once. I’m actually terrified of this, because I can’t imagine taking both children that can’t swim into the water by myself. The Hubs is NOT a fan of water. Well, I mean he likes it well enough to shower and everything, but he’s against getting into big bodies of water unless it’s with a boat and a fishing pole. Therefore, if I want to go to the pool with the kids that means I go alone, or with a friend that also has their own kids to watch still presenting a problem. Anyway, it's a goal. I'm sure I'll accomplish it, but the sheer enormity of it scares me. Have I mentioned that I have abnormal fears? hahaha!
5. Ice cream or Popsicles?4. Did you have the something old new borrowed and blue at your wedding? What were they?
Yes, I did =). My old was a necklace my Sis in Law let me borrow that was gorgeous. The borrowed was my tiara, also from the same Sis in Law. The blue let’s just say I had blue. The new was my dress.
Yes, I love to nap. I don’t do it much, but Sunday afternoons are almost always a napping occasion.

Ice cream please!!! Yummo! Gotta love some delish ice cream. The only thing is that my body loves the ice cream so much it ends up staying. And therefore I end up needing bigger clothes. Now normally I’m all about a reason to buy some new clothes, but that particular reason isn’t apealling to me at all.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

New-to-me Computer!
Earlier this week my computer decided it didn't like me anymore and shut down. Well, technically it gave me the blue screen of death. It would turn on, boot up and even seem normal for a few minutes then BAM it would blue screen.
Now, to be honest the computer was 8 years old, which in computer years is like 1,008. So it didn't make me mad that it up and died. I just felt disconnected. Hahahaha!
Anyway, part of the perks of the Hubs being a computer man is that he knows other computer people and one of his other computer friends had an extra computer that they weren't using and we were able to pick up super cheap! YAY!! So, once again I'm connected to the world!
Hope you all have a great day!

Anti-social
Have you ever been "anti-social"? You know what I mean: no desire to go to places where you know lots of people will be, you'd rather sit quietly than attempt to have a conversation that you're convinced will be awkward? No? You've never experienced this?
Huh, I guess it's just me then. Lately, I've noticed this kind of a trend in my behavior. It makes me nervous to leave my house. My house is like a gigantic security blanket. And if I have to leave, then the Hubs is my travelling security blanket. I hate this new tendency, because it's so opposite of who I used to be.
I used to be miss independent. I travelled by myself constantly, meeting and conversing with new people wasn't a problem (I grew up as a Pastor's kid, this is like a job requirement! ;), I enjoyed leaving the house.
So, if you've thought I was avoiding you, or didn't want to be around you, or didn't come to your party, it's not because I'm trying to snub you, I'm just trying to cope. I'm not telling you this to make you feel bad for me. This is just a place for me to be honest about my life and at least for now this is part of my life.
I hope you all have a great day!

Park & Ice Cream!
Friday night the Hubs, the kids and I met up with some of our favorite friends and their kids. We met at the park. Boy oh boy did the kiddos love running around playing until their heart's were content and their little bodies were tired.
We brought sub sandwiches and fruit and had a nice dinner at the picnic tables. After a little refueling, the kids were ready to run again! Off we went to enjoy more playground time. (P.s. the adults did plenty of talking, while supervising and corraling the kiddos ;)
When the sun started to go down, we gathered the kids up and drove to Sonic where we all enjoyed ice cream! Talk about a fun evening! And I tell you (at least on our end) there was no whining about the kids having to go to bed. =) They were ready to hit the hay! Sadly I didn't have my camera out, so I don't have any pictures to share =(. Oh well!
Hope you all have a great day!

10 Years Ago Today
10 years ago today my life was changed forever. Normally when I say things like that everyone expects something mushy gushy to follow. Like talking about the Hubs or my chitlins. I wish this were the case. However, that is not the case. My life changed forever in a bad way.
I lost one of my dearest friends. Her name was Stephanie and she was great! We would talk for hours, play stupid games, go to Walmart in the wee hours of the morning dressed in our jammas, hang out at the beach getting sun tans. Lots of great stuff. She was driving home on a Tuesday evening when a drunk driver ran a red light and hit her car. Steph died instantly. My Dad got the call from her Mom at 10 pm. We immediately jumped in the car and drove to meet the family at the site of the wreck. It was heart breaking.
Tonight I will be attending the 10 year memorial service. I'm sure there will be tears, but there will also be laughter. All of us good friends will stand around reminiscing about "the old days" and what Steph would have done or said in a certain situation. It's very bittersweet.
Today, I will choose to remember the good times. I will choose to remember that one day, I will see her again. I will choose to remember that my life is better off for having had Steph in my life, even if it was for too short a time.
I hope you all choose to remember the good today.

Friday
Good Morning, Friends!
Can you belive it's Friday again? I'm sure some of you are saying, "yeah, and it couldn't get here fast enough!". Well, I hope you have a great weekend. Ours is going to be full. Starting with a playdate with friends then tomorrow breakfast with family (a tradition), and a small birthday party for Sweet Pea. Then of course church on Sunday =).
I'm excited about church Sunday night especially, because it's the AWANA closing program and this year was Firecracker's first official year in AWANA. He was a Puggle (a puggle is a baby platypus) =). Anyway, Firecracker gets to have a part in the ceremony! I'm sure it'll be a night to remember!
I hope you all have a great day!

Happy Birthday, Sweet Pea!!!
One year ago today I was having the easiest labor I'd ever had (which really isn't saying much, because Firecracker's birth was TERRIBLE. No joke there were 2 Doctors and 10 nurses in the room, according to the Hubs, I was a little out of it. Sweet Pea's birth was the exact opposite in every way). After 12 hours my Sweet Pea was here! She was perfect. I loved her instantly.
How is it possible that my baby is 1 already?! I'll never get over how fast the time slips through unnoticed in all the bustle of everyday life.
Today, my sweet, adorable, (the Hubs says "spoiled" ;) baby girl is 1. Oh how I love her! She brings joy to my heart. She brings me happiness ;).
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWEET PEA!!!! Mommy and Daddy love you!!!
Hope you all have a great day!

A Few Things You May or May Not Know About Me
You may not be interested in these things about me, but I just thought I'd share.
1. My favorite color is pink. LOVE IT!
2. I'm sarcastic. I am and always will be. If you are sensitive, it's a good possibility we will never be best friends. We'll get along, but I'll never feel free to be myself. I'm too afraid my sense of humor will offend you.
3. I try hard to like people and give them the benefit of the doubt. The Hubs thinks I need to be less trusting, but I feel like people should be trusted until they give me reason not to. (It's all about past life experiences. That's why the Hubs is less trusting, but WAY friendly. Given time he'll trust.)
4. Sometimes I laugh or smile at very inopportune moments. I don't handle confrontation, times when I feel I'm in trouble, or when I have to reprimand others well. I almost always smile. Which is really awkward, because then it looks like I'm enjoying it. Which I'm not it's just a nervous reaction. I HATE IT!
5. Parenting is a true joy to me. I am so greatful to the Hubs for working so hard so that I can stay home and parent our babies while they're so young.
Here's a short list of stuff about me. You may care, you may not. It doesn't hurt my feelings if you don't ;).
Hope you have a great day!

"I Do It Myself"
"I do it myself!" These words can make a Mama have a myriad of different emotions.
1. Pride- my little man is expressing independence! He's getting so big!
2. Sadness- my little man is expressing independence! He's getting too big =(.
3. Frustration- buddy, can Mama please help this time? We're going to be late if we don't leave right now! (This one is very rare, but it does come along occasionally)
I love that Firecracker is doing so much for himself. It really is so great to see him growing and learning new things all the time. Watching him learn opens my eyes and helps me to see things from his perspective. I tell you it's amazing. However, there are so many moments that I look at my little boy and realize he's just that- a little boy.
I look into Firecracker's face and no longer do I see any baby chubbiness. He's already mastered all of the "baby steps" and now he's on to bigger and better things. It truly makes me sad that time is slipping away so quickly. It reminds me to give and get extra hugs and kisses and say extra "I love yous".
Hug your babies, even if your babies aren't babies anymore.
Have a great day!
Ms. T
P.s. I was just remeniscing and thought I'd share one of Firecracker's 1 year pictures with you. And then you can see just how much he's grown up in 2 short years. (yes, I know he's 3, but
1 + 2= 3 ;)

I look into Firecracker's face and no longer do I see any baby chubbiness. He's already mastered all of the "baby steps" and now he's on to bigger and better things. It truly makes me sad that time is slipping away so quickly. It reminds me to give and get extra hugs and kisses and say extra "I love yous".
Hug your babies, even if your babies aren't babies anymore.
Have a great day!
Ms. T
P.s. I was just remeniscing and thought I'd share one of Firecracker's 1 year pictures with you. And then you can see just how much he's grown up in 2 short years. (yes, I know he's 3, but
1 + 2= 3 ;)

Mother's Day
I hope all you Mothers had a great Mother's day. Actually, I hope everyone had a good Mother's day!
My Mother's day was MAAAAHHVALOUS!!! The Hubs was super sweet even taking on diaper duty for me ;). Firecracker made me a card in Sunday school, thank you Sunday school workers! Sweet pea was sweet like always.
The Hubs sent Firecracker into the kitchen with my gift in a gift bag. Firecracker brought it to me and I said, "Oh buddy, what's that?" Firecracker said, "I don't know!" and proceeded to open the gift. Hahahahaha!
The gift was my very own Kindle Fire!!!!!!!!! YIPPEE!!!! I love to read. My Hubs knows me so very well! =) I was patient to not play with my new toy until after we went to church.
We came home, had lunch and laid the kids down for their naps. After nap time, we ate a bit of dinner and then took a walk as a family (our church didn't have an evening service, because they encouraged people to stay home and spend time with their family for Mother's day.) All in all my day was perfect!
I hope you all have a great day!

5 Question Friday
Hey, friends! It’s been a crazy day here, but whoo hoo it’s Friday!! Yippee!! This weekend is gonna be fun =).
Alrighty, on with the Friday fun! Once again thanks to for letting me link up!
1. What advice would you give a couple getting married?
I would tell a couple getting married to continue to talk about everything. Even when you’re busy with kids make time to talk, even about the “dumb stuff”. This will keep you connected and keep your relationship strong.
2. If you could tell your 16 year old self ONE thing, what would it be? Ohhh this one is hard, because there are so many things I’d tell my 16 year old self. I’d probably tell myself to think and plan more for the future. Rather than being so wrapped up in what everyone right then was thinking about me.
3. What do you do to keep cool in the summer? (AC, windows, fans, swimming, etc.) Here where I live AC is a requirement for survival. It gets brutally hot in the summers.
4. What did you (or your wife) crave most while pregnant?
With Firecracker I craved lo mein noodles like crazy! I loved me so lo mein. I also craved oreo cookies toward the end of the pregnancy. YUMMO ;).

With Sweet pea I craved everything! I ate everything that was in sight. I can’t remember right off the top of my head what I specifically craved, but I know I wanted certain things….. Mommy brain is kicking in right now.
5. Who is your favorite TV mom? Why?
Here’s a blast from the past. My favorite tv mom would be Claire Huxtible. She was awesome. She worked, was an awesome mom and she was a good wife. I think being a good wife is essential to being a good mom.
There are my answers for this week ;). Hope you all have a great weekend!
See ya Monday!

My Mama
This weekend my Mama is graduating from college!!! She has been working on finishing up her degree for the last few years and she finished it up in December.
Mama and Daddy are going to Lynchburg, Virginia for my Mama to walk in her graduation ceremony. I'm SOOOO very proud of her! I wish with all my heart that I could go too. I want to be the proud daughter snapping pictures and shouting as she walks across the stage, "THAT'S MY MAMA!". Unfortunately, circumstances do not permit =(.
I gave her my camera and told her to get lots and lots of pictures for me. I love her and I'm so proud!
Hope you all have a great day!

A Rant
The other day a good friend of mine and I were hanging out. This friend also has 2 little ones. While we were hanging out a mutual friend came by and we were all making chit chat. While we were chatting, this mutual friend said, "so what do you do all day?".
Nothing gets under my skin as quickly as this question. I know I shouldn't let it bother me, but it gets me every time. So I'm going to elaborate for everyone what I "do all day". Then you can decide for yourself if all I do is laze around.
Before I start I just want to say that I love my life. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to stay home and care for my kids during this important time in their lives. I wouldn't change my life. It's amazing, and full of "little adventures" (like discovering your 3 year old is making a tower out of furniture and trying to climb it... allowing you to experience what a heart attack feels like!), and fabulous.
Beginning of the day:
Firecracker wakes up. Take him potty, brush teeth, get him a cup, try to keep him moderately quiet until Sweet Pea wakes up on her own.
Sweet Pea wakes up. Change her diaper.
Breakfast for everyone.
Clean up both kids
Clean up the high chairs, the table and the floors
Clean the kitchen
Depending on the day- insert cleaning of some kind here (ie. bathrooms- which having a boy that is potty trained are almost always in need of cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping etc.)
Remember though, because there are 2 small children loose in the house I have to stop frequently to make sure they're ok/ not killing eachother/ not getting into anything.
Get Firecracker a snack (lately he's been hungry all the time, pretty sure he's going through a growth spurt.)
Play for a few minutes with the kids.
Fold laundry.
Feed the kids lunch.
Clean up both kids.
Clean up the high chairs, table and floors.
Clean up the kitchen.
Decide what to do about dinner and get that going.
Take Firecracker potty
Read a book
Firecracker's nap time
Go back to laundry (because this chore is NEVER ENDING)
After a while lay Sweet Pea down for her nap.
Get on line for a little bit. (I'm not gonna pretend like all I do all day is work work work, I do get a few minutes here and there that I get to get on the computer, but is that really any different than a work place?)
Both kids are napping! =)
Shower (trust me it's hard to do when you've got 2 munchkins you're trying to keep from hurting one another, and in Sweet Pea's case from swallowing anything off the floor.)
Watch t.v. (it feels decadent =)
Kids are up.
Play for a few minutes with the kids.
The Hubs comes home =). He distracts the kids while I make dinner.
Dinner time
Clean up both kids
Clean up the high chairs, the table and the floor.
Clean the kitchen
Hang out as a family
Bath time- for the kids
Bed time- for the kids
Pack the Hub's lunch
Try to clean the house up so I'm not behind the 8 ball in the morning.
Collapse from exhaustion.
Don't forget to scatter several diaper changes a day into this equation.
This is a typical day in my life. Now I realize that I get to spend more of the day in my jammies, but it's still work. I do not sit around all day eating candy and watching soaps. Yes, I get a break at nap time to have a little down time, but don't you get a lunch break? I just get the opportunity of having my break time at home. And now you know what I do all day. You know the most frustrating part? I clean like this most every day, and still by the end of the day there are still dishes in the sink, toys on the floor, and a mystery sticky spot on the floor in the kitchen that seems to reappear every day in a different spot ;).
Ok, rant over.
I hope you all have a great day!!

Moving
You might have noticed my absence last Friday, or maybe you didn't which is cool. I'm not offended that you were using your internet time to read other blogs rather than taking the time to notice I didn't post last Friday =). Anywho, the REASON I didn't post last Friday, was not because I forgot, but that I wasn't home to post. I was helping my older brother and his family move. We drove to St. Augustine on Thursday and spent Friday moving them in.
It was exhausting for all involved. Even the kiddos were wiped out, but their exhaustion was more from missing naps and running around like crazy people with their cousins, than from moving big boxes up and down the stairs.
My parents came along too to join in on the moving fun, and while Daddy helped unpack the truck Mama took on "Gram Duty" which involved keeping all the kids occupied so that they didn't trip anyone that was moving heavy furniture. Sure it's not a typical moving job, but trust me it TOTALLY helped.
I hope you all have a great day!

Photo Shoot Attempt
The other day I attempted to take Firecracker's 3 year pictures. I was hoping that since he's gotten older he'd be more cooperative... These are a few of the pictures I got proving just how wrong my assumption was:
And then I told him if he was cooperative and smiled for me that I would give him candy. And I got out the candy and put it next to me. Then I got these:
Oh the difference candy can make ;).
Hope you all have a great day!

Alone
When I was in college I really hated being alone. Aside from when I was supposed to be studying ;). I would seek out friends that weren't working or studying etc.
It's funny how time, and babies, changes things. Now days I am NEVER alone. I can't even go to the bathroom without a little person following me in (if I forget to lock the door), or standing/ sitting outside the door and sticking their fingers under it and saying "Mom, whatcha doin'?!", or "babababa" (depending on which child it is ;).
I love my life, my munchkins and my Hubs. I wouldn't change any of it for anything. I was just sitting here in the chaos I call home and this struck me. How different life can become just a few short years later.
Hope you all have a great day!

New Shoes
I rarely buy myself new shoes. I hate spending money on that type of stuff. It's the same reason I don't get new clothes. Don't get me wrong, I love new clothes, and new shoes. They're snazzy and pretty and every girl loves snazzy and pretty! Well, all the girls I know do.
Anyway, I just can't usually bring myself to spend money on that stuff. Because there is always something else I could use the money for. You know "oh, I could buy that dress, or I could buy Firecracker some new shoes. He needs the shoes more than I need the dress." etc. I'm sure you Mamas totally understand where I'm coming from.
Well, Saturday night the Hubs and I went shoe shopping for him. His work shoes needed to be replaced. The store was having a buy one get the second pair 1/2 price so I thought, "eh I'll look and see if I can find something nice." I did, and so I got them! Yay for pretty new shoes!
Now all I have to do is work on my tan lines =). See what wearing flip flops 350 days out of the year gets ya? ;)
Hope you all have a great day!

More Mysteries...
1. Why can mayonaise sit on a shelf for like 4 years, but as soon as you open the jar it must be refrigerated?
2. What magical substance is cling wrap made out of that the only thing it will stick to is itself?!
3. Why do manufacturers even bother making kids plates, cups etc. that are not dish washer safe?! I know not everyone in the world has a dish washer, but seriously, most of us Mamas do!! One of the first things I look at is "is it dish washer safe? Because, I'm not washing it by hand!"
4. How is it possible that every time a baby gets the remote they manage to put the t.v. on the Spanish channel? (at least that what happens when my babies get the remote.)
So many questions that are puzzling..... Someone must know the answers right?!
Hope you all have a great day!
