Happy Leap Year!! I only get to say this once every four years =). Now, I'm not entirely sure why they call it leap year. Maybe we are all supposed to leap over things in order to have good luck for the next 4 years? I don't know, but I can tell you right now if I start trying to jump over things I'll probably pull something, or break something hahaha!
So instead I'm just going to wish you all a happy leap year and leave it at that!
Hope you have a great day!

McDonalds
Last Thursday, the Hubs and I took Firecracker, Sweet pea and my niece, R, and nephew, J, to McDonalds for their famous half price happy meals. And to play on the playground. What kid doesn't love a chance to run around a play place?
When we got the kids out of the van we wanted them to hold hands through the parking lot. Well, they all wanted to hold each other's hands rather than holding a boring grown up's hand only. So they ended up walking in a kind of circle-ish fashion, because they had to hold a grown up's hand too. It was cute.
They played and played and had a fantastic time. Then they ate, came home, had baths and watched a movie while eating some popcorn. How could life as a munchkin get much better? =)
Hope you all have a great day!

Crazy Family Times
My older brother, Mr. T (hahahahahaha), sister in law, Ms. C and their two munchkins R and J were here almost all of last week. We enjoyed having them here so much!
The house was crazy with 8 people in it, and I'm pretty sure I just heard my washing machine and dryer sigh from exhaustion ;) (remind me not to have 4 more kids, because 8 people make WAY too much laundry! hahaha), but it was so great! We stayed up too late and the munchkins had fun running around, playing together, missing naps and staying up too late (and they were surprisingly well behaved).
I'm going to be starting to clean everything up today and getting back into a more normal routine. And part of me is saddened by that. But I know that there will be another time when we all get together and who can't have fun when all that crazy is in one place?! =)
Hope you all have a great day!

Costume
Last week O, Firecracker's little buddy, and his Mommy, Ms. H., were going to the library and invited Firecracker to come along if he'd like. Of course Firecracker was psyched about going. He has gone with them a couple of times and always has fun.
That day they came home later than they normally do. The reason they were later? The library had a craft night! Firecracker came home sooooo excited! Wearing a mask and beads and carrying a hat. He was so proud of his "costume", as he called it.

Apparently it was a Mardi Gras theme, but still cute ;)

5 Question Friday!
This week has flown by so quickly! Having awesome people visiting is surely the culprit ;). Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting me link up!
1. What's your favorite way to spend down time (alone or with a significant other)?
My favorite way to spend alone time with my hubby is to hang out on the beach and watch the sun set. I love the salty, warm breeze that is hits me while I’m watching the sun set. It feels like it’s healing all my troubles. I’m sure that sounds nutty, but I love it.
2. Are you the kind of person that wants things more as soon as you know you can't have it?
Yes, because most of the time I hardly entertain the idea of whatever it is. Why spend a lot of time thinking about something you’re pretty sure you’ll never be able to do/ have? Talk about a waste of time and energy. Not to mention the longer you allow yourself to think about something the more you want it etc. I find it safer to think of things in passing, and then if I can have it I get excited and start dwelling on it.
3. If you were given $1000 to spend on yourself, what would you buy?
Hmmmmm….. I’d say a new sewing machine, because mine is officially a hunk of junk. After that, ummmm some new clothes, and then a baby sitter so the Hubs and I could have a nice date night. Maybe we’d go to the beach and watch the sunset ;).
4. Do you ever go out to eat by yourself?
By myself? Nope, unless you count McDonalds drive thru. Honestly, I’m almost never by myself so I don’t even do the Mickey D’s drive thru all that often. :)
5. What company would you want to do a blog review for?
I don’t know. This blog is more silly stories etc than review material. If I had to pick one I guess I’d say Johnson and Johnson.
Hope you all have a great day!

Family is Here!
Today my older brother, the same one I rambled about here, and his wonderful family are here, in my house! I'm ecstatic to have them visiting, and I'm not the only one.
The Firecracker is psyched! He loves his Uncle and his Aunt for sure, but he love, love, loves his cousins. I know this is a short post, but be expecting some fun tales of 3 cousins making trouble and messes soon. =)
Have a great day!

Short Hair
I've been thinking about chopping off my hair for a few months now. Whenever I start thinking about changing something this "big" it takes me a long time to decide whether or not to do it. I'm sooooo not an impulse shopper, buyer or hair cutter!
Well, a couple of weeks ago I took the plunge. I chopped my hair short. I jokingly call it "the easy way to lose a pound" ;). I must say I love it.
On a related note, the Hubs has been begging me to cut Sweet pea's hair. Just on the sides, because as the Hubs says it looks like "Albert Einstein hair"/ "Jewish Rabbi curls" (you know just two, one on each side of the face). Anyway, after much resistance, I finally relented. The whole time saying, "only the sides, ONLY THE SIDES".
So I give you before and after shots of both Sweet pea and I:

Here's my Sweet pea before.
My before (and Firecracker's one year pic. Isn't he so cute? And doesn't Sweet pea look just like him? They can't deny their Daddy...)
Both of us after our hair cuts =). I'm still getting used to her new do. The Hubs is very happy though.
A post about the actual hair cut will be up soon. =)

Changes
It's funny how parenthood changes you. I was thinking today about all the differnt rolls you take on when you become a Mommy. It's not simply taking care of someone else. No, no, Mommyhood is not even remotely that simple.
All of the sudden you become a nurse, an interpreter (no, honey, when he cries like that he's tired not hungry. Then later it's explaining to others what he's saying while his words are still a little jumbled.), an architect, an engineer (because you have to be in order to put some of these toys together!), imaginitive like never before, able to make a toy out of a shoe box or a plastic spoon, a tent maker, professional laundry doer (because although these people are small, they make HUGE piles of laundry), a scholar in all things veggie tales and mickey mouse, sleep walker (because some days you have to be after not having slept all night, but still required to take care of your bundle of joy), carpet cleaner, and the list could go on from here to eternity.
It's amazing how motherhood stretches you and makes you discover parts of yourself you never knew existed. It's amazing (and at times exhausting) for sure. Just a few thoughts that if you're a Mommy you already knew and if you're not a Mommy you may not be interested in at all, but they popped into my head so I thought I'd share ;).
Have a great day!!

An Awesome Friend
Since the Hubs has come home with all his body parts, the Doctors ordered him to stay off of all fat. This is such a healthy diet, but I had NO idea how many foods actually had fat in them. Pretty much if it doesn't grow then it has some form of fat in it. This makes dinner planning rather difficult, unless we're having salad. And that gets old pretty quickly.
I have a fantastic friend, the amazing Ms. S, that due to health issues of her own in the past has had to have this type of a diet. She has given me tips and tricks to help us have a variety of meals rather than just salad. Ms. S. even surprised us and brought us some DELICIOUS meals just to prove her point (and to prove what an awesome friend she really is ;).
Through the years Ms. S. has been an awesome friend. I'm so glad that she is in my life. I love her and her gang of kiddos (she has 5). They're an great family.
Anyway, this is my tribute to my friend who has taught me much about parenting, being a wife and a cook.
Thanks, Ms. S!
I hope you all are lucky enough to have a Ms. S. in your life. Have a great day!

5 Question Friday!
Today my Sweet pea is 9 months old. I can't even believe she's already that old =(. I have got to remind myself not to blink or else before I know it she's going to be a teenager.... I want to catch every single second, and snuggle while she still wants to snuggle. On a different note: Once again it's FRIDAY!! Yippee!!!
Thanks to Mama M. for letting me link up!
Here goes the fun!

Here goes the fun!
1. What do you do when you are really upset to calm yourself down?
Eat chocolate or ice cream or chocolate ice cream. Oh and sometimes cake =). I’m an emotional eater. I’ve tried to change that, but it stresses me out and I end up eating…. It’s a vicious, vicious cycle.
2. Do you go all out for V-day or is it just another day?
This year we went all out. Now, no, we didn’t do a lot of love themed things, but we did extra special things and talked a lot about how we show love to each other. It was a great day.
3. Are you more or less productive when Hubs is away?
It depends, If the Hubs is simply away at work, or away for a few hours then yes, I’m more productive when he’s away. If he is away, away like overnight I’m less productive in the “get the house clean” way, because the children require mucho attention. When I’m solo it’s harder to get everything done. For real, I admire single parents. I have told the Hubs many, many times he’s never allowed to leave me or die, because I can’t do this alone.
4. What is your favorite time of day and why?
My favorite time of day is after the kids go to bed. Don’t get me wrong I love my munches to the moon and back, but I revel in the time I get to collapse onto the couch and surf Facebook and watch something stupid and what I deem inappropriate for little eyes and ears.
5. What is your go to karaoke song?
None. I’m an AWFUL singer, therefore, I do not do karaoke. I’d clear out the room.
Now, aren't you glad you know those things about me? ;)
Hope you all have a great day!!

Sewing Machine Failure
The other day I got out my little, bargain sewing machine, because my pile of things that needed to be mended had gotten too big for me to put off any longer. I got it all ready and started in on my tasks. I got through all of one garment when the machine started giving me fits!
It refuses to sew right.... I don't know what to do with it! I tried everything from changing the tension settings to changing the needle to praying over the stupid thing! That's right, I was so frustrated with it I used the "S" word!!! The Hubs came home and I fussed to him about it. The wonderful, sweet, kind, compassionate man that he is sat down and tried to figure it out. He came up with nothing too. UGH!
The Hubs says that our "bargain sewing machine" probably just isn't worth it's salt any more. =( Which means my pile of things that needs to be mended will sit there for some time longer, mocking me.
I hope your day isn't this frustrating!
Have a great day!

Watch Out World!
It has been quite some time since I've had an army crawler residing in my house. Sweet pea sur is reminding me minute by minute how dirty my floors are! One minute she's attempting to chew up a paper notebook Firecracker dropped. The next she's chewing on a piece of grass someone tracked in from outside. Goodness gracious! I have to vacuum more often.
I'm not the only one Sweet pea is giving a run for their money. Firecracker has been quite distressed by her getting into his toys. He will leave a pile of cars to go to another room, when he returns Sweet pea will be in the midst of the cars chewing them up. Firecracker gets upset by this! He will say, "no, baby girl! I play cars!" (Of course as a good parent I can't just sit by and chuckle, I have to explain that we must share our beloved toys.)
Ahhh and then there is the Hubs. He likes to leave the remote control on the floor. More than once he has left the room and come back to Sweet pea chewing on the remote changing the channels. Hahahaha!!
We all have some things to readjust and get used to now that Sweet pea is a mover. =)
Have a great day!

The Army Crawl
Sweet Pea has been trying to get around now for a couple of weeks. She had been rolling and kind of scooting for a bit of that time, but she was determined. The cutest was when she would dig her toes into the carpet and push off gaining about an eighth of an inch at a time. So cute to watch!
Well, yesterday, she accomplished her goal! The Hubs called me into the living room and said, "have you seen this? She's army crawling!" I said, "no, she can scoot a little, but I haven't seen her actually army crawl".
Sure enough the Hubs put something out in front of her and Sweet Pea looked at it and decided she wanted it. Then she started pulling herself with her arms and simulatenously pushing with her legs and off she went to get it! Her progress is still slow, but it is progress.
My baby is growing way too fast. =( It is neat to watch your baby figure out new things though. Gotta love the babies!
Have a good day!

Puddles
It's sad that as we grow up we don't find joy in the simple things any more. Like looking at the stars, finding shapes in the clouds, and playing in puddles. I must admit I am guilty of this too. I despise puddles, because I don't want to get my shoes and socks wet etc.
I must say watching Firecracker enjoy the little things. It's teaching me to enjoy them again too.
Here is the Firecracker playing happily in a small puddle in front of our house.

Hospital
Spending time in hospitals is depressing. Have you ever noticed that? It's also kinda smelly. No matter how well they clean, it seems like they can't get rid of that smell. (Trust me, the lady that's cleaning the Hub's room is amazing, but even she can't get rid of that smell.)
It's hard to explain. Oh well. And how is the Hubs doing you ask? Well, thanks for asking! He's feeling slightly better, but he still has his gallbladder. (Darn, I totally lost the bet!) The Surgeon and the Primary care Doctors disagree so they are taking a "wait and see" approach. So basically we still know nothing. It's kinda depressing, but hey, the Hubs may get to come home today! Yay!
Well, this is the end of my kind of rambling post. Sorry, it's not light hearted, cutesy or uplifting. I promise to be back to myself soon.
Hope you all have a great day!

A Night in the Emergency Room
Well, yesterday was interesting to say the least. The Hubs went to the doctor because he had been really sick for a few days. The doctor sent him for blood work and an ultrasound. Once that was done the Hubs came home to wait for news.
About 4 o'clock we got the call that the Hub's gallbladder is possibly infected and he needed to head to the emergency room right away. Doesn't that sound like fun? So I dropped the munches with my fabulous Sister in law and took the Hubs to the E.R.
After 5 hours of sitting and waiting and having everyone, including the janitor, come in and ask us why we were there, and expect us to give them the whole story the Hubs was finally in a room and resting. (just kidding about the janitor, but it seemed like it) For real though, I got so tired of telling the same story that I started to change it. "Yes, nurse, he's here for an emergency tatoo removal. You see it's his ex girlfriend's name and if he doesn't get it removed I'll kill him. So you see it's really life threatening."
Yes, I know this is childish, but when you've done nothing except sit in a "curtain room" for 5 hours (you know those rooms in the e.r. that aren't really rooms. They're really just a big hallway with curtains in between the patients), you get super bored. And yes, I did tell them the real reason after we all had a good laugh.
I haven't been in an E.R. that was as packed as that one was in a long time. I tell you what the E.R. doesn't bring in the highest class of people..... I'm not judging, but seriously almost everyone was wearing non matching pajamas, and taking turns smoking. It was interesting to say the least.
And before I go I MUST tell you an interesting conversation we overheard. One woman, the Hub's "curtain neighbor", came in complaining of chest pains and not being able to breathe. When the doctor came in to see her he saw scars on her and she said, "yeah, I had lung cancer". So the dr. said, "did you stop smoking?"
Woman: "no"
Dr.: "do you plan on stopping"
Woman: "I'm not going to lie to you. I don't ever plan on stopping."
Dr.: "huh, well how many do you smoke?"
Woman: "not nearly as many as I used to."
Interesting no? See, after such a looooooonnnngg wait I was reduced to lying to the employees and eavesdropping on the curtain neighbors. I'm a horrible person. Now you know my secrets. I wonder if this is what people used to do before they had t.v.?
Have a wonderful day!

Firecracker Has Reached "That Age"
The other day I was having one of those "do what you can to make it through the day and not an iota more" kind of days. So I made leftovers for the Hubs and myself for dinner and made Firecracker a cheese roll, which is just a tortilla with melted cheese inside, and a box of raisins. I gave him his food and left the room (the Hubs was with him). After a little bit I heard the Firecracker crying. When I got back in the room he was digging in his nose. He had shoved 2 raisins up his nose.
Apparently we've reached the age of shoving raisins, marbles and anything else that will fit up his nose. Oh what fun we shall have..... (please read that last sentence with a tone that includes immense sarcasm. I wish there was a "sarcastic" font.)
Anyway, after a few minutes of nose blowing and slight picking (isn't that an awesome mental picture? ;) the Firecracker's nasal passages were wonderfully raisin free. Yay! I hope they stay that way forever.
Have a great day!

Time, slooooowwww dowwwnn!!!
Why is it when you're standing in line 15 minutes feels like 15 days, but when you're playing with your kids one minute they're new born and you turn around and then your baby is 8 1/2 months old?!
My Baby girl, Sweet Pea, is growing way too fast =(. These pictures are proof.

New Buzz
About a month and a half ago we recieved an offer in the mail to get a 40.00 Disney gift card if we called and listened to them try and sell us their vacation package. And because I'm a cheap skate there is no way I was going to let that go by me! (If I had an extra 10,000 laying around I totally would've done it. It sounded awesome). Anyhow, the gift card came in the mail last week. Yippee! Just in time for Disney!
In my frugal brain I was thinking, "sweet! Free lunch at Disney World!! And possibly a few dollars left over for a small souvenier." This was my plan. I thought it was a pretty good one. Enter the Hubs. He says, "GREAT! We should buy Firecracker a big Buzz Lightyear toy! Just think how much he'll love it!"
Well, I'll let you guess who got their way. Let's just say we paid full price for lunch. I must say though Firecracker sure does love his new toy! He has hardly put it down. He has even slept with it! It is really cute. Ahhh the things we do for the kiddos we love ;). Here are some pictures to show the new addition to our family and our Firecracker's love for him:

Disney
We had such a good time at Disney World yesterday! Firecracker even said last night after we left the park, "Mom, I have fun Mickey Mouse's house". Translated: "Mom, I had fun at Disney today." Talk about making a Mama happy! =) He then proceeded to tell me that Sweet pea, Daddy and I all had fun at "Mickey Mouse's house" too. =)
After he was done talking about the fun we all had, he proceeded to drop off into a deep sleep. Which is really unusual for him. Firecracker isn't typically a "sleep in the car seat" kind of kid. So that too speaks to how much fun was had by all. More details later this week.
Happy Sunday!

5 Question Friday!
Yay, FRIDAY!!!! =) Tomorrow we are going to Mickey Mouse's house!! Better known as Disney World. I can't wait! I haven't broken the news to the Firecracker yet, because he still has no concept of time. If I told him too soon then he wouldn't stop asking when we were going until the minute we got in the van to head out. Therefore, I will tell him tonight probably at dinner. Anyway, I know he will be PSYCHED!
So if there isn't a post tomorrow you'll forgive me right? Oh good thanks so much! =)
Alrighty on with the 5 question Friday fun! Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting us link up.
1. What have you done recently that you are proud of?

Alrighty on with the 5 question Friday fun! Once again thanks to Mama M. for letting us link up.
1. What have you done recently that you are proud of?
I sought help for my depression and am clawing my way out of it. I cannot express how great this feels. You will never understand this feeling, unless you’ve done it. And trust me I don’t wish depression on anyone whether they’re my best friend or worst enemy. P.s. lately there has been a trend around to wear a silver ribbon for those who are fighting depression or support someone who is. So if you see someone with a silver ribbon know they are fighting for themselves or a loved one and proud of it.
2. What is your favorite way to work out? Or if you don't workout, what are you wanting to try?
I used to walk with one of my favorite people. But that was back before I had children. I am interested in Zumba, but I’d have to get a dvd of it to try out in my own home after everyone else is in bed, because I have ZERO rhythm and I don’t want to subject myself to all the pointing and mocking that would no doubtedly go on in a public setting of any kind.
3. If you knew you best friend was cheating on spouse would you tell?
Not right away. I would give my friend a chance to tell their Hubby first. I would do this only because I know that if I were the one being cheated on then I would want to know. I’m thankful though, because I know my Hubs would NEVER cheat on me. And I also am pretty confident that those I am close with wouldn’t put me in this position.
4. If you could afford a live-in maid or nanny, would you have one?
Oh Sure! And while you’re at it let’s throw in a cook, personal shopper, butler and a chauffer! Hahahaha!! Ok for real, I probably would get maybe a part time maid/ nanny. Someone that could do my most despised chores (aka laundry), and maybe watch the kids for a couple of hours a week just to give me a little down time.
5. Do you stress out about birthdays (specifically the age) or do you enjoy them?
I do not stress out over birthdays for 3 very good reasons. 1. There is nothing I can do about getting older. 2. My Mama always says, “if you’re not getting older you’re dead”. So personally I’ll take the birthdays, thankyouverymuch. 3. In our house we have some rules for birthdays. You cannot be wrong on your birthday, you always win (whatever game you may be playing whether it’s monopoly or the punch bug game) on your birthday, and your birthday must be a happy day.
We may have to tweak a few of these rules once the munchkins get old enough to know what they mean. But for now these are the birthday rules and I LOVE them! So yes, I am an adult and I still count down the days til my birthday. By the way there are 327 days til my birthday =). Thanks for asking!!!
I hope you all have a great day!

Mysteries
There are many mysteries of life. For instance:
How is it that I can look in a cabinet and not find one inch of space, but Firecracker can look in that same cabinet and find an obscure spot to hide a sippy cup full of milk that I won't find for a month?
Why is it that sugar makes kids hyper, but when adults eat it it makes us more sluggish?
Why does the silverware compartment of the dishwasher fill up faster than the rest of the dishwasher?
Why on a long car trip do you not have to go to the bathroom until you're in the middle of no where?
Just a few things I'm pondering today =)
Hope you have a great day!
