I said a Boom Chick Boom, I said a Boom Chick Boom, I said Boom Chickawaka Chickawaka Chick Boom!!!!!
Today, my friends, is the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!!!! I'm thrilled!! I'm going to miss the kids in my class. I love them all and I hope they know that. But I'm so ready to be able to wake up without an alarm clock. (Well, not a mechanical one anyway. Firecracker and Sweet pea are human alarm clocks) Relaxing is on the top of the menu as well as trips to the beach and other fun stuff! I'm excited for summer =)
Have a great day!

Problem Solving Skills (repost)
The other day I was re reading some old posts of mine ( I enjoy going back through and reading about my munchkins in the past. It is like their baby book.). I came across this one and thought I should share it again. =)
The other day Firecracker was playing in the play room (which the kitchen looks into through a window). I didn't think anything about it. He spends a lot of time in there.
Well, all the sudden Firecracker starts calling to me. I turn around and I can see his head and shoulders (now mind you, usually through the window I can only see from his eyes up). Curious, I walk into the play room to see what he's standing on. Sure enough he has the toy box (which is nothing more than one of those big plastic bins you buy from Walmart for 7 or 8 bucks) turned over and he's standing on it.
As soon as I realize Firecracker was not going to kill himself, I assessed the situation. The football he had been playing with was stuck on top of the little tikes play house we have in the play room. So Firecracker decided to turn the toy box over, stand on it and use a hoe (it came as part of a plastic garden set for outside a shovel, a rake etc. It just never made it outside.) to reach the football to get it down.
Now you may be asking yourself, was she upset by what Firecracker had done? Nope, and he didn't get in trouble at all. I was actually impressed that he 1. figured out a way to do it himself. 2. Took the initiative to actually do it and 3. didn't kill himself trying! I applauded him for figuring it out by himself. I mean really isn't that what we as parents are trying to teach our kids? We want them to be independent people and do things for themselves.
In short, my boy made me proud!
I hope you all have a great day!

Faker
The other morning Firecracker was complaining that his tummy hurt. Now, I'm not a cold hearted ogre, but I can tell when my kids are faking it. I was 99% sure Firecracker was faking because he wanted to stay home instead of going to school.
To test my theory I just said, "that's too bad. I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Since you're not feeling well you won't be able to eat any fruit loops after you eat your cheerios." (that's the rule in our house. You can't eat sugar cereal until you've eaten something good for you like cheerios, or a banana etc.)
You should have seen him pop up off that couch! Apparently, he was healed miraculously! Hahaha!
Have a great day!

Sleep Over
Last week, I promised Firecracker that if he and his cousin, Tank, were good at school all week then Tank could come to our house Friday night for a sleep over. The two of them were sooo excited! They tried super hard and they earned their sleep over.
When we all got home they played and played and played. Thankfully, they included Sweet pea in their shenanigans for the most part, because otherwise she'd have been crushed. Anyway, they had a grand old time. It makes me so glad to see my kids getting to be around their family all the time. I love that their best friends are their cousins.
Have a great day!

Jeepeers Creepers the Sequel
I told you about the original Jeeper Creepers the other day. Well, now here is the sequel. It is actually the online version.
The day the Hubs went on his job interview for his new job. (that he's actually starting today YAY! :) He had taken the day off from his current job. I posted on facebook asking people to pray for him. As soon as the Hubs got home from his interview he got a phone call from his current boss. His boss wanted to know why my facebook page said the Hubs was going on a job interview. You can imagine that was an uncomfortable conversation.
Weird factor 15= I'm not friends with any of his work people on facebook. And I specifically didn't tag him so that none of his work people would find out. Yeah, it was a major creeper moment. It just proves how vulnerable we all are even when we've got "privacy settings".
Have a good day

Mommy
I have been blessed with an amazing Mommy. I love her. I am so thankful for my parents. The more kids I work with the more I realized just how blessed I was in my youth and still am.
All kids deserve a Mommy. Not just a Mom, a Mommy. Someone who will chase away the monsters from under the bed, sing songs at bed time, read bed time stories, teach them manners, pray for them and with them and most of all love them. Not just love them when they're loveable. Because not even the most amazing person is loveable 100% of the time.
My heart has been so burdened lately for a certain child that I love, but is not my own. This kid deals with a lot of crap. I'm not saying this kid is perfect. Far from it, but that doesn't mean that they don't deserve a Mommy!
All I can do is love on this kid when I see them. And pray.
Have a good day, and thank God for your Mommy!
